Antique 19thC C.W. Chadwick Carved Walnut Victorian Piano Stool Velvet Bench
This is a beautiful piano stool circa 1889. It is in very good condition with what looks like original sawdust stuffed cushion. The red velvet has faded however. The wooden base is carved from what I believe is walnut. There is a cast iron stool spider supporting the top marked C.W. Chadwick North Acton Massachusetts. There are nails around the bottom from perhaps a time when it was recovered but the original cushion was not replaced. There is pencil on the bottom which indicates 89 so perhaps it is dated 1889. It appears to be from that time period. Measures 17"w x 12"d x 19"h. Thank you!

With the cane intact on one arm, and with some cane breakage( 3 small spots) on the left arm side. There is an upholstered seat with gorgeous fabric that is all good, and the rest of the bench is all nice, with fluted tapered legs and rosette medallion fronts. The overall size, from the widest point, is 52 inches wide on the outside of the arms, 45 inches on the inside of the arms, 18 inches deep, 45.5 inches to the top of the back, and it is 28 inches high to the seat. The squash blossom is one of the most recognizable artifacts of the Native American Culture. Traditionally associated with the Navajo silversmiths. Rather it is a fascinating consolidation of influences traced historically back hundreds of years. The classic squash blossom necklace features a crescent shaped pendant, called"Naja" Nah-Hah) the Navajo word for"crescent. A symbol that was common to many of the earliest civilizations. In the late 1500s and early 1600s, the saddles and bridles of huge muscled horses of the Spanish Conquistadors where fitted with sterling silver crescent-shaped pendants of Moorish origin.
