I felt better knowing my son was safer being connected to the airplane safety belt, than just freely sitting on my lap. The vest is easy to use. This infant size one is for a baby whose head can fit through the hole. Up to 16 inches. Once you put the vest over the head of the baby then buckle each side, and buckle the one adjustable buckle between each leg. There is a strap that goes the seatbelt goes through. It is not for use during take off or landing. It does come in handy when there is turbulence. The fabric is soft. It is easy to wash. Packs in a carry on or diaper bag with ease.
