This is a custom designed and built Laser Rod Heating& Heat Exchanger Chassis. It was used for heating the solid state LASER rod to about 150F to maximize energy output. It used de-ionized water to heat the rod which flowed about 5 gal/min and 40psi. All flow components are stainless steel except the flow sensor. All components work. This unit was purchased by our company used. During rebuild was discovered titanium plates would not work for our application. Unit was stripped to the plates. All plates were pressure washed and cleaned. Gaskets were removed for cleaning and to replace any in poor condition. When we found that this would not work for our chilling application, heat exchanger was re-boxed, and has remained on the racks since. Rebuild with amount of plates to your specifications. Up to 82 square feet, any more and you will need to purchase additional plates. If you need less than 82sf of plates, there may be enough gaskets as-is. On rebuild we tore only a few gaskets. It is about 7" tall overall and the oval top is approx 2 3/4 x 2" It is a great idea, and I wish I had something like it on my wood stove pipe. Both the top and bottom are removable to facilitate cleaning and ... moreinspection. In operation when the damper rod is pulled out there 3 large main chimneys- 1 right up the middle and 1 at each end to allow for plenty of draft when starting the fire in the stove below. Once the fire was going good you would push in the rod to close off the large center flue forcing the heated air into the 8 smaller tubes around the edge. A lot more heat would be given off as a result before it finally made its way up and out the main chimney or stovepipe. Please check the pics to see what you get.
