Only love can inspire that kind of poetry. This is a copper and brass fire extinguisher. It has a few names on the gorgeous plate of typography attached to the front. The first is Underwriters' Laboratories. Inc. which is stated to have inspected it. This company, now known as UL, was founded in Illinois in 1894 to perform safety inspections on new emerging technologies and is still does safety testing all over the world today. Under that, it says"STANDARD MNFD BY MILLER-PEERLESS" Miller being the founder of Underwriters' Laboratories. The ... morefire extinguisher was the debut of UL's labeling practice. The rest of the plate of typography gives directions for use. The extensive example of typography is one of my favorite things about this piece- featuring several different fonts and font sizes. The extinguisher has a really magnificent natural patina, varying in shades of brown, black, red, orange and bright green. The orange/red color of the hose also gives it a nice pop. A fantastic collectible- some people talk and read about history, some people hunker down and surround themselves with it. Which one are you? Of course this item has a few telltale sings of her age- heck. For that matter, so do I! There is of course the variances in color and wear to the finish. There is also a small ding on the label plate. There's some oxidation in the bottom of the extinguisher. The hose, which appears to be covered in a manner of a material at least partially composed of rubber, has some cracking and a some small bits have flaked off at the very top. Overall, this amazing piece(which could be a hundred years old) is in great condition for its age. Please see photos for condition and ask any questions before bidding. Dime

Vintage copper fire extinguisher that's a bit harder to find. Duragarde with the pump top& hose. Stands approx. 28" tall to top of handle. It is empty but still a bit heavier than some between 15 and 16 lbs. This is nicer than most and I do believe it will clean up beautifull. But I will pick it apart for ebay as I should. Dimple dent on top section. Slight flat spot on the upper ring just above the brass name plate toward the right. Worse spot is a dent on the bottom rim. A small double bay station that stored a 85 ft. ariel ladder, two attack pumpers and a modifed ambulance for a support vehicle was at the far end of town. We were the first company at Kennywood when the micro burst hit and fought hard at Tech-met chemical fire. This item is a 1 1/2" high pressure fire hose. It is in excellent. Used shape, and is fully functional. It came from a small fire department in California which bought this hose a significant number of years ago, but has been stored in dry, dark areas. I also have two 1 1/2" nozzles listed. There may be use marks or other flaws that have to do with age and use that one can reasonably expect-any major flaws that I detect will be descibed. All items are sold AS/IS. RARE DUNMORE PA. NEPTUNE HOSE CO. FIREMEN FIRE COMPANY Scranton area POSTCARD
Out of a DUNMORE PENNSYLVANIA ESTATE is an unused RARE early 1900's POSTCARD of the NEPTUNE HOSE COMPANY in DUNMORE PENNSYLVANIA near the SCRANTON AREA in LACKAWANNA COUNTY. It is in good condition except for a 2" bend/crease running from the upper right corner towards the middle. The Neptune Chemical Company was organized on October 1. 1887, to furnish protection for the rapidly expanding business section. The original equipment was a two-wheeled Champion chemical engine, but it was abandoned for a pumper and hose soon afterwards, when it was found inadequate to cope with fires occurring in the vicinity of the Corners. The name was then changed to the Neptune Fire Company, No. 1. The entire equipment was destroyed in an incendiary fire on November 24, 1891. Undaunted, the members erected a new building on the site, purchased horses, ... morea hose wagon, hose, etc. and occupied their new quarters on February 9, 1892. They turned over their equipment to the borough in 1895. On April 1, 1917, the company moved to[1937] 113 North Blakely Street, furnished with a Boyd hose wagon, the first piece of motor apparatus used in this department. Their present equipment, a Stutz triple-piece, and 500-gallon pumper was purchased in 1921. The central location of the company necessitates its response to all fire alarms. The company has the distinction of being the first to be recognized by the borough. Present officers[1937] are: Stanley Seese, President; Joseph Donnelly, Vice President; Harold Seese, Secretary; Michael Litzin, Treasurer; Joseph Dempsey, Captain; Edward Wegge, Lieutenant; Thomas Walsh, Martin Fitzpatrick, Benjamin Riccardo, Trustees. It is from a New York City Fire Department Bronx Firehouse. Dating back to 1915. It is made of a heavy iron. These hooks were used to hang a 50 foot length of hose hoisted up the tower to drain and dry out the hose. It measures 10 1/2" long, 5" wide at the bottom and 1 1/2" side at the top, and 2" deep. On the back of the hose hook is lettering, I can make out the top and right side, the top reads"water" and the right side reads"New York" the left side has writing but you cannot read it. Up for bid is a very early 1920s- 1930s Rare& Scarce"The Akron Brass Mfg. Co. Arkon. NH" Foam Inductor Fire Pump Spray Hose Nozzle With Copper Tip in amazing vintage condition. The clear hose is solidly attached to both ends with copper female caps and it is very sturdy. It measures 30"inches long and it is 1.5"inches thick. The heavy duty solid brass nozzle with chrome plated turn dial measures 9"inches long and is marked as follows: Akron Brass Mfg. Co. Akron. NH/ 95 G.P.M. and the silver chrome plated turn dial which is used for how much g.p.m. you would use is marked(1/2/3/6& 95) in the middle of it. The long thin 16" brass spray nozzle on the other end is not marked at all and is made of solid brass with a 4"inch long copper tip with a lot of corosion turned blue. The overall weight of it weighs ... morealmost ten pounds! This is such a beautiful piece of fire fighting history and is truly ultra rare and very scarce to even still be found. Vintage Restored Copper Brass Foamite Fire Extinguisher with hose Polished empty
Up for sale is a beautiful vintage Foamite copper fire extinguisher. This has just been freshly polished to a high polish. And not touched my human hands(without gloves) when it was completed. This has no dings, a couple of scratches that are not too easy to see. It is complete with hose and clamps. This was a UL listed item in its day, tested to 350lbs pressure. The tag is not coming off. The handle steel riveted on with copper rivets. No missing rivets. This is a really nice piece for any household. I worked very hard to make this look this nice. You can pick your teeth in it. This is an 8 panel helmet that measures 14 1/2 inches long overall. The inside measures about 6 by 8 1/4 inches. The only damage that we see is where the stitching has separated along the underside of the rim on the left side, some wear on the left rear of the rim so that the metal wire shows for a couple of inches and the brown cordroy liner has started to come loose on one side. We do not find a maker's signature. There is a small part of a paper label which we could not read- we tucked it inside of the helmet liner. Vintage adjustable fire hydrant wrench key. Red paint in very good condition. Total length is about 20 inches. Total weight is 5 pounds. Adjustable opening to fit various sizes. Special hooks on each side for removing hydrant caps. This is very nice. But I have no use for it. I don't know if it has ever been used. Please see pictures for condition details.
