Antique CHICAGO FIRE DEPT ENG 95 1940's all brass handcrafted fire hose divider
This item is a vintage. Solid brass piece of Chicago Fire Dept history, hand-manufactured some 70 years ago in the Chicago Fire Dept. repair shops facility& foundry where all nozzles, fitting, and tools were hand-crafted in that era. This item belonged to Engine 95, another of the all-time busiest pumpers of the CFD, stationed on the busy west side of the city. This piece attached onto a 2-1/2' male hose thread and allowed 2 separate 1-1/2' hose lines to be used from it. It's anyone's guess how many millions of gallons of water has flowed through this piece since when horses pulled this pumper, then through the 50's& 60's when that area was ravaged by the hundreds of fires during the 1968 riots. ~ VINTAGE 3 IN CHROME on BRASS FIRE TRUCK PUMP PIPE CAP ~ HOSE TOOL
Offered is an old 3-inch. Lug-type pipe cap. This cap is chrome on brass and, although unmarked, is almost certainly from a fire truck or boat. It has some age on it, but I can't date it exactly, although I suspect an expert on old fire trucks could identify it pretty closely. The cap measures about 6 inches across the lugs and weighs about 18 ounces. The inside looks like about 2-7/8 inch to me and is finely threaded. There are no breaks or bends. The chrome(or maybe nickel) plating is absent or rough here and there. The small hole in one lug is a little off-center. So it may have been added. It could have been used to wire the cap closed, or hang it on a hook when it was off. Please look the pictures over closely. Winner pays for USPS Priority in the USA. The fully functional telescoping ladder extends to 36" and swivels. The truck has its' original bell, and large scale driver. It has great friction action and a sweet sounding siren. There is one hose included, which I believe is the take up reel, and it appears that this truck should pump water in some way, but I can't figure it out. PLEASE READ AND VIEW PICTURES! You are looking at a Vintage Cairns"Clifton NJ" Leather Fire Helmet. It is Good solid shape. Seen Firefighting Use and a REAL GOOD LOOK. I am not sure what model It is or what year, I would guess 1940s- 50s. It is a size 7-1/4, has a 641 written on the label inside, has a Sanitary Cushion Lining. It has some minor issues, E. Finn is written on It and can probably be removed but I think Its part of the History so the new owner can remove It if you choose so. The front shield has the very top missing, still a nice used look and the seam in the back is separated. You could probably heat It and get It back together and rivet back in place, I will also leave that up to the new owner if you choose to repair.
