I found this globe locally. This is most likely new old stock. It is in good condition. No scratches that I can see, but it does have two 1/2 inch chips(one on each side) on the outside of the base opening(see picture) The base opening is approx. 3 1/2 inches in diameter. The chips should not show at all once the globe is put in place on the item it was bought for. I'm not quite sure what this globe was used for, but feel that it was connected with Barber Shop, Fire Alarms, Vending Machine, Arcade Game or Old Gumball Machines. I have never seen another one like this. I did see a milk colored globe on an old antique fire alarm lamp light that comes as close to matching this one as I have seen. Game well fire alarm call box with working mechanism antique vintage cast iron
Here is a old used Game Well fire alarm box. Outer cast iron box looks to be then old boxes from the 1920's. Appears to have been repainted at one time. The interior seems to be a newer pull station mechanism. It does windup and triggers an alarm. It does not have the gong but it appears to be 90% complete. This will look great in a bar or fire themed collectibles room. A fire alarm box is an outdoor device used for notifying a fire department of a fire. Early boxes used the telegraph system and were the main method of calling the fire department to a neighborhood in the days before people had telephones. When the box is triggered. A spring-loaded wheel spins and taps out a signal onto the fire alarm telegraph wire, indicating the box number. The receiver at a fire station then can match the number to the neighborhood. Unmanned or volunteer ... moredepartments would instead have a Diaphone horn that sounded the box number. The boxes are a form of street furniture still in service in many places, though many towns and cities have removed them due to cost of maintaining the obsolete system. 1900s Fire Alarm Telegraph Relay Station Vintage Brass and Beveled Glass
This is a very cool fire alarm relay system used from 1900 to 1920. It is solid brass and has wonderful beveled glass that allows you to see the mechanism. The workmanship that it took to make this machine is amazing. The piece is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks in the glass. It heavy and solid. The interior houses a wonderful clock mechanism that works well when wound. It probable needs some cleaning and lubrication but it will run for a few minutes and then stop. Then all you need to do is give it a bit of help and off it goes again. Its pretty cool.

Fire Alarm Box circa 1915 Made by Federal Electric Co Chicago Signal Break Glass
This lot consists of an old fire alarm box made by Federal Electric Company of Chicago. Illinois, circa 1915. It is made of cast iron in the shape of a little red house with a peaked roof, with cornice details, and embossed lettering on the front: Federal Electric Co. Chicago, 212, For Fire Break Glass Pull Lever. The outer box has a vertical screw fitting for a post or light to be attached. Inside the cast iron outer box is a separate metal box marked“Pull Lever Down And Let Go” and“Test Key. There are gears like clockwork inside. It is separate form the outer box but it appears that a few bolts through the back would hold them together. Both the outer box and the inner workings are marked“212” another part is marked“217. There is a lightning arrestor in the bottom inside: an implement that clips in and out, revealing a porcelain backplate ... morewith raised lettering: Vacuum_Lightning Arrestor, Type 390, L.S. NO RESERVE.This is an ANTIQUE HUGE 17 Inch Diameter Gong Bell mounted on an Oak Backboard with some electric mechanical mechanism on the upper area.I assume this was a Fire Station Telegraph Alarm Bell. But I suppose it could have had another use.It is similar to Gamewell Fire Alarm Bells I found online.It measures overall 28 inches tall and 18 inches wide by 8 inches deep.I do not know how the mechanism worked and it looks like there are some parts missing from the electric activation mechanism.The bell clangs with a loud and sustained resonance when you push on the lever at the top.Overall it is a nice and impressive old bell.Buyer Pays Shipping. Rare, Circa 1900, gamewell Fire Alarm Box, Excelsior Model, Excellent condition
Up for auction is a magnificent and very rare Gamewell Excelsior Fire Box. Circa Late 1800's to 1915, 23. Kept in excellent condition all parts working, just a very nice piece. Notice the door is of the"Fire Alarm Telegraph Company, NY" and not its later inclusion of"Gas" or"Electricity" making this a truly rare find. Its age, condition and rarity make this a an exceptional alarm box, please see the entirety of my photos that I have included for a more exact description. Measuring 12 X 10 X 4 1/2 and weighing a heavy 37 pounds for its compact size. Starting this off at a buy it now price but would take any reasonable offer.
