UNUSUAL! VINTAGE DOUBLE BRASS BELL CAST IRON FIRE SCHOOL ALARM BELL
This auction is for a vintage cast iron alarm bell with double brass bells. This old alarm bell has a heavy cast iron base which is painted black and it has 2 solid brass bells. It measures 6 1/2" wide x 7 1/4" high x 2 1/2" deep and I tested it and it is in good working condition. The brass bells are in excellent condition with no problems to mention but the black cover does show signs of age and wear. I have not been able to find a manufacturers mark although there is some lettering between the bells but all I can make out is 592. An excellent vintage alarm bell and hard to find with double brass bells! Please email if you have any questions or would like a shipping estimate. This call-box was used in the day by the Columbus Ohio Police and Fire Departments to call in fires. Bank robbery's, murders and any such incidents that required an immediate response.remember the days before cell phones.that's why police and fire needed a call-box like this! This call-box is a bright yellow with red lettering. This item was an actual working call-box and is not a cheap knockoff. It appears to be made of cast metal(will not hold a magnet) and weights approximately 18 lbs.
