The front of this has"National Surety Burglar Alarm" This was made by the National Surety company which went bankrupt prior to 1920. Made from cast iron. This piece measures approximately 11 9/16" wide x 9.5" high x 2.5" deep. The back of it has the bell system on it. There are some areas on the spools that havr fraying. This can be seen in the pictures. There is some chipping to the repaint job as well. This is a previously owned item and it is being sold as shown. Vintage Vanguard Protection System Wind Up Fire Alarm Bell Never Used
This auction is for a vintage Vanguard Protection System wind-up fire alarm bell. It is model V2-25FT and was made by Interstate Engineering Corp. It works by winding it up first(duh) then hang it on the wall. Heat from a fire would melt the wax retainer ring inside. Setting the clapper free. It measures 6 inches in diameter and roughly 2 1/2 inches deep. It appears to have never been used, but I can't state that for sure, but it does wind up freely. Please see the pics above. Very complex, and very heavy(whopping 36 lbs! bronze and thick beveled glass Gamewell fire alarm box/ ticker tape register with latest patent date of Oct 26th, 1909(serial#938285) This was used by the fire department to notify them when an actual fire was taking place in a certain section of a large metroplitan area. A signal was sent in code from a fire box and activated this machine that recorded the location on the tape. You are bidding on a vintage fire alarm box by The Auto Call Company Shelby. Ohio. Other than the glass the box appears to be complete. The glass holds the lever in and prevents the mechanism from turning, it looks like the glass is flat so it should not be a problem to replace.The box measures approximately 9 3/4" tall, 7 7/8" wide and 3 7/8" inches deep.Just below the glass window it has a brass tag with the Underwriters Laboratories Inspected Fire Alarm Box Private Station no. 100. This is a single striking 6" direct acting tapper bell made by the Gamewell Fire Alarm Telegraph Co. The bell has been tested and is in complete working condition. This bell was actually used as an audible alerting device in a firehouse in the Philly area and has some age. Wear, and dust. These bells rarely come up for sale because there were literally hundreds of alarm boxes sold compared to just a few bells. This type of bell was hooked up. Along with a joker ticker tape system, to alert the fireman on watch of an incoming box number.
