Up for bids here today is a vintage E.D. Bullard SF-USA Hard Boiled hard hat. This helmet is made of fiberglass and comes with the face shield and face shield apparatus as seen in the pictures above. Face shield is in pretty good condition along with the apparatus itself. I am not sure what the purpose of the face mask is besides keeping like sparks or something out of your eye. I wouldnt think that it is for welding but maybe I am wrong. I was thinking it might be more for like grinding metal or something. Vtg Bullard 5100 Hard Hat Peltor Ear Muffs Headphones Neck Shroud
This hard hat has been well worn and shows it. Needs a good cleaning inside and out. The bill of the hat has a crack making it a little flimsy. The ratchet works well and the suspension appears fine. The peltor headphones work but the plug is a little touchy and could maybe be replaced for a better connection. When I hooked it into my cell phone. I had to fiddle with it a bit to get good sound. The plug is for a phone or walkie and not for radio/ipod. The shroud is fine but needs a washing. Go to the job site looking like you've been there 20 years with this one. Feel free to ask questions. Up for auction is a hard hat manufactured by BF McDonald Co. Los Angeles. US Patent numbers: No. 2177146 and No. D118432. I checked on US Patents website and this hard hat would have been manufactured around 1939 or 1940. The hard hat is painted white and has remnants of an emblem on all four sides but I cannot tell what the emblem would have been. The inside leather headband is in very poor condition. I obtained this hard hat from an old farm shed near Edgemont. SD. Email received from a historian knowledgeable in the Edgemont area said that it was most likely used when uranium was mined northwest of Edgemont during that time period. VTG Harris Structural Steel Co Yellow Hard Hat Helmet 1950/60s Skullgard? Hat is coming directly from a Jersey City estate. It is marked on the front Harris Structural Steel Co. It is made from a material that looks like carbon fiber. I found other hats labeled skullgard which looked similar. I do not know who made this hat. There is a small"S" on the front of the brim. Condition: General wear throughout. There is chipping to the edge of the brim, wear to the decal, has no liner. Measures 10 1/2" across x 12 1/4" from front to back. Head opening is approx. 7" W x 8 3/4" front to back.
