1930"s White and Silver Beeded Evening Bag by Whiting & Davis
This lovely Vintage purse belonged to my Aunt who gave it to me to play with in 1930's. Later I decided that I wanted to reline(big mistake) I removed lining thus making the zipper loose although it is in good shape. The beading has one leaf with loose beads other than that it is in very good shape. It must be relined. The pin pictured with it will be sold seperately. The name tag is missing but as I recall it is by Whiting of Whiting& Davis.

From an Estate- Very Vintage Whiting and Davis metal mesh handbag- clutch or chain handle. The purse measures 8" across at bottom and 5" across the top. Chain handle has a 5" drop. Could be used as a clutch as well with chain turned to inside. The chain has detail pattern worked into each link. Detail is outstanding. One corner of the lining is loose and needs a needle and thread to reattach to the mesh. No odors. Clean inside. Mirror pocket still has original mirror inside of it. Auction is for 2 vintage Whiting& Davis items. One is a beige mesh purse and the other is a gold mesh coin purse. Both are in good clean condition for the age. The coin purse shows slight wear and there are no missing pieces. One gold mesh square piece is loose on the left side bottom but is not missing. Overall size at longest dimension. Not including clasp are 2.25 by 4 inches on the gold mesh coin purse. The beige mesh purse is approximately 6.25 by 8.5 not including strap. Strap measures approximately 21 inches when doubled. Beige purse is in very good clean condition showing slight wear and I see one tiny"circular" metal piece on left edge missing, very hard to see or find and also there is one of the square beige mesh pieces missing on the top of the purse. Gorgeous Vintage 1920's Whiting& Davis Pearl-White Mesh"Beggar's Purse" Evening Bag Measures about 9" long including chain. Gate style opening expands and contracts easily. Inside there is a tiny square mirror.I don't know if it is original to the purse but the mirror has some clarity issues in spots. This Purse is in Nice Estate Age-Appropriate Condition. Please use photos for details and description. The body of the bag has a few small spots where the enamel has worn away. There are what appear to be"seam" lines in the metal.or else it is a line where the enamel wore off when it was set down.however it does not look random which makes me think it might have been made that way. 1940’s Art Deco Whiting & Davis Gold White Plated Mesh Evening Bag Purse Nice!
I feel this purse is in very nice condition for age. It is adorable. Please zoom in on the handle! It's not a thin chain. It's thick and nice to the touch. It is pet and smoke free. Label is still inside purse. I don't see any tears in the fabric. I hope someone out there who collects this style purse would like to add it to their collection. It is approximaltey 8" across and 5" high. A dainty little bag! I can ship for 3.95 anywhere in the usa first class.
