Fine late 17th or 18th Century Chinese hardwood document box
This auction is for a fine late 17th or 18th Century Chinese wooden document box. It is quite rare for such an early piece to make it to the USA in a reasonably unrestored state so I hope you will find the condition to be a positive thing rather than a negative. Reminds me of the market for Windsor chairs that were always stripped to be rid of the'ugly' old paint or Arts and Crafts furniture that was stripped to admire the wood better. and now everyone knows to leave well enough alone and both examples in original condition are far more valuable than any items that found their way to the dipper's tank. Only to look like new after refinishing. As you know, most of these document boxes have ruyi brasses at the corner's of the lid so this box is a bit unusual but not unprecedented as Christie's sold a huanghuali picnic box ... morelast year with similar mounts on a box they dated to the 18th Century. Just added an image with one of the replaced corner brasses removed from the lid. Carefully removed the finish so you may be able to identify the wood this fine box is crafted from as it shouldn't matter being hidden anyway. PLEASE look at my photographs and ask questions if you require any explanation. If you would like more pictures. Tell me what you want images of and be sure to include your email address. CONDITION: Probably the most pressing issue is the replacement of some of the brass mounts. A few others will need to be replaced with surfaces matched to the original brasses. The wood surfaces of the box itself appear to be the original finish with one later coat of lacquer applied many years ago. Probably the same time the brasses were restored. Best of all is the red lacquer finish to the interior that is in very fine original condition. The lacquer on the base is a bit rough and shows loss but is a rare survivor as well. SIZE: Not including brass mounts) 353 mm wide. 192 mm deep and 121 mm tall. Roughly converts to 13 7/8 by 7 1/2 by 4 3/4 inches. SHIPPING: Probably FedEx if it ends up selling

Wyoming all dated March 1899. These forms are hand signed by different stockholders in the Standard Cattle Company with brief notations about shares held by each signer. One of the forms appoints R.M. Allen to vote at the upcoming meeting of stockholders to be held in Cheyenne, Wyoming on April 3rd, 1899. The other forms are the same but signed by different stockholders and dont' name the person appointed to vote on their behalf. These forms measure about 8" x 5.25" Signers include Thomas D. The booklet is titled'Report of Commission and Statement by the Bermuda Government' The booklet has 195 pages of typed script and outlines the enquiry and accounts based on the Police Reports and evidence. Really interesting reading! Booklet measures 10-3/4" x 8-1/4" and is approx. 1/2" thick. The booklet was sold to the public for twenty shillings(original receipt is inside the booklet) It comes in good condition but for the fact that the three binding staples have become rusty and there are a few marks to the front and'TFC' written on the back. Soviet Order Of The Red Star with Document and Photo
A friend of mine was in the U.S. Army stationed in Berlin in the 1990's and collected a large group of Soviet. East and West German, and Communist Block countries medals, insignia, uniforms and headgear. He recently contacted me and offered his collection to me because he has new collecting interests and so I purchased his entire collection which I will be offering over the next week so please keep watching. This is just a great Soviet Order of the Red Star in excellent condition which includes the document book with the same number listed for the Star. The photo was in the book but I don't know where his other decorations went.

How did this document ever end up in the Western Canadian prairie? That is a real mystery. The document starts out. His Highness Emir Abdullah of Trans-Jordania. May it please Your Highness. The document ends with, The Members of the British Muslim Society. The Shahjehan Mosque, Woking, 5th November, 1922" the letters seem to be raised/embossed with a gilding. The signatures appear to be original on the p aper- not a reproduction of some sort- but I am not sure. One of the signatures appears to be. Headley" If it is correct. That signature would surely be that of Lord Headley. A convert to Islam in 1913. As it states in the history below. I n those days. Conversion to Islam meant incurring the wrath and displeasure of family, friends and society, and in the case of those belonging to the higher levels of society, like Lord Headley, ... moreit meant losing the respect and reputation in which you were held. Not caring for any such worldly loss, Lord Headley boldly and openly proclaimed himself a Muslim and served the cause of Islam till his death in 1935. He toured Muslim communities in several countries in the company of his teacher Khwaja Kamal-ud-Din, thus visiting South Africa in 1926, touring India in 1927, and performing the hajj in 1923. Beautiful Antique Japanese Tansu Document Chest, Japan, Drawers, Small Dresser
Up for auction is this beautiful antique Tansu document chest! This chest just has a fantastic look to it. The size of it is 23 inches long by 18 inches tall by 11 inches deep. All the hardware seems to be made of old copper. And I'm not sure what type of wood it is made from. I believe this chest is about 100 to 120 years old, but I'm not sure. The guy I bought it from said it was brought to the United States in the 1950's. As you can see from the pictures, the chest does show wear. The top especially shows wear from things being set on top of it over all the years. Also the wood on the front of the drawers shows wear from all the years of hands reaching in to the handles. There are 3 locks on the chest, but unfortunately I don't have the key. All the drawers open just fine. One of the sliding doors works great, and the other ... moreis a bit stiff. Offering this pair(2) of original Civil War era heavy solid copper hand soldered tubes. One measures 21" long and the other is 22" long. These have no makers marks on them that I can find anywhere. They have a nice patina and show much use all over. The tops fit snugly. This WWI era Polish Pilot's Document/Medal Lot was owned by a friend of mine who recently passed away and I am listing it for his estate. All items in the lot are original period pieces and you get everything shown for one money. This WWI era Polish Pilot's document/medal lot is the real deal and the items show age overall(see photos) The ... morelot consists of the pilot's French issued pilot's license with photograph as shown. The pilot's logbook, French Aviators document(13 x 8.25 inches) Polish medal w/associated document(12 x 8.5 inches) and one other small document(3.75 x 5.5 inches) unknown to me(see photos) The pilots name appears to be Jean Zbikowski and he was born in Detroit May 24, 1892(see photos) He apparently went to Europe to fight for Poland after WWI(see photos) I don't read French or Polish very well and am unable to read entries in the logbook(see photos) This is a real interesting WWI era French trained Polish pilot's document/medal grouping that would be excellent for display with a WWI aviation collection. ORG WWII German Wehrmacht Reichswehr Transitional Army Service Document COLORFUL
This ORIGINAL prewar display document was given to a member of the 8th Machine Gun Company. Braunschweig Infantry Regiment. His family name was Buschmann. If you'll notice, his dates of service straddle the division between the Reichswehr period and the birth of the Wehrmacht. The symbolism in this piece is also mixed, from the flags to the Weimar eagle within the Braunschweig hand stamp. The ministerial signatures(bottom left) are of course pre-printed. This item was apparently framed at one time as the reverse has paper tape along the margins. The top margin has a sizable tear that visible in the last image above. This tear is not readily noticeable when the piece is laying flat. An interesting, ORIGINAL item! I guarantee the authenticity of every item I sell.
