It also has a Thermometer unit fitted into the neck inside its own case. Its 28" tall x 7.5" wide and has a solid brass bezel that holds the flat real front glass over the silvered Dial. They have the name of an American fur company cast into the back, these were probably cast for a store display in the early 1900's. The legs have a beautiful curve to them and the deatail in the casting is amazing! Extremely early German handwoven homespun pillow sham 29" x 28 1/2"
This is the most beautiful early German handwoven/homespun pillow sham. I would estimate it to be 1880s. Probably even earlier. It is woven in a natural gray flax and dark blue plaid. There are ties on the open end with which to tie shut the sham. They are done with an indigo/red/cream stripe. The colors on the tie have run when it was washed. The sham measures 29 inches by 28 1/2 inches. It is in excellent condition. All the stitching on the sham is hand done. It would be a beautiful complement to early furniture pieces.

This lot contains 11 vintage nautical charts of Scotland. All from the 1970's, plus- if I've counted them correctly- 17 more of other locations around the coastlines of the British Isles. Listen up and I'll tell you what they are. First. Measuring about 46" x 35" the one pictured above is US Defense Mapping Agency Hydrographic Center Nautical Chart No. 35083, titled"Scotland- East Coast- River Forth, Port Edgar to Carron River. Sure enough, the River Forth runs from left to right, with Culross and Rosyth on the north shore, and Grangemouth and Queensferry along the bottom. The two Forth River Bridges- road and rail- are both at the far right. It is dated 1975 and stated to be the 4th Edition. The scale is 1:18,260. It is in generally very good and usable condition. With some light surface and edge wear and creasing, ... moreand maybe a mis-fold or two, and it may also have some ink and/or crayon inscriptions on the back, some of which may have bled through, and perhaps also some notations or corrections on the map itself. This came from the collection of an Esso tanker captain, who had the habit of writing at least the chart title and/or number in bold lettering on the back, sometimes also with other notes or reference numbers. It has been stored folded, but will probably be shipped rolled in a tube. The others were listed separately on eBay but drew no bids. Most material I offer issued prior to 1960 will show some evidence of hinging as this was the mounting practice for most collectors. In many cases, a single stamp may have gone through the hands of more than one collector and will have hinge marks on the gum side, hinge remnants attached or hinge thins and gum loss resulting from hinge removal. Occasionally, prior owner's marks may also be present on the reverse side of a stamp. A stamp described as"MH" will be an unused example that shows evidence of hinging as described above but still retains all or most of its original gum. An unused stamp without gum may be described as"Unused. NG, or simply"Unused.
