Auction is for a powerhouse of a vintage 1/2” Standard B&D Drill. Number 361 with Jacobs 33B chuck and key. In working order* It’s been in the family for 66 years. It was my Father’s drill! He got it when he retired from the Board of Education after 42 years. Most retirees got a gold watch. My dad got a cheep wooden memorial and a cheep electric clock. Which he tossed into the dresser drawer and never looked at again. He got the drill. For his retirement. It has a Type SO replacement cord. Ten feet long,with a Hubble plug. I replaced the cord 15 years ago and it’s still AOK but it does have a few rub marks. This B&D drill operates on 115 Volts. The Chuck is good. It’s a Jacobs#33B and key. This drill has a speed of 400 RPM. Weights about 12 pounds. Now is the time to part with it. It needs a new home. This B&D drill has not been ... moreused much. I got it from my Father 20 years ago and hasn’t been run in the last 5 years. It has always been stored inside(not in the garage) It runs well. Sounds clear(very little gear-reduction noise) Has NO Ozone smell. But does show a little sparking at the brushes, especially when first started, maybe this is normal for an old drill. See photos. A word of caution- this drill has a lot of Torque. If you’re drilling into steel. For example, and the drill bit locks-up, this drill will spin right out of your hands.it’s a workhorse! My Father told all all us kids to be safe.never“knot tie” the plug into an extension cord and don’t use the trigger lock. I respect this drill. It works now and when you get it. It’s Guaranteed to work for you. True story: Many years ago my Father and his partner were installing some gymnasium equipment in a school gym. They were on scaffolding about 20 feet high. Probably a 6x12 foot work area. In those days there weren't hammer drills for drilling into concrete(at least not for the Bd of Ed) So they used what they had. Vintage Black & Decker 1/2" Heavy Duty Electric Drill u 226-1 reversible ridgid
This has some dirt and rust but it does work. Although it did sequel a little at first but after it ran a little while I'm thinking the grease inside got redistributed. The cord on this is shot. it will need a new one, the Ridgid chuck spins freely and the key is taped to the cord. This would be an easy one to restore. 9-6-14

1920's Black & Decker Hexagon Light Duty Electric Drill - 1/4" Drive - Working
This is a used Antique Vintage 1920's Black and Decker Light Duty Hexagon Electric Handle Drill with a 1/4 inch drive/ chuck. The drill does work. The trigger is a switch with no variable speed. The drill clicks on and off. The case is scuffed and scrapped from use and storage. The drill is dusty and dirty. The chuck is 1/4 inch and threads in and out easily. The chuck is a Jacobs Drill Chuck made by Jacobs MFG with a Patent Date of Sept 16. 1902. The power cord appears to be original. For a Light Duty Drill this is a heavy duty cord. On the collar of the cord is a Patent date of Feb 23, 1923. The cord is in good condition with just a few cracks in the rubber housing. The pictures hopefully show the cracks in the housing. The ground wire is missing the screw tab to secure to the ground. The cord is quite long at over 11 feet. Attached ... moreto the cord is a Jacobs Chuck Key. These tools are in great working condition and are original green tools from black and decker. These are good tools from before they stitched their color or orange and started making crappy tools. I have owned these for over 10 years and at least half that time they have been sitting in a box.
