Here is a great vintage Castle brand fully articulating examination light from a circa 1930 dentist chair setup. IT WORKS. You will want to rewire it. But the correct high-power bulb is there. The glass lens is perfect, and the internal parabolic light diffuser is fine. This has a brass vertical 24" riser that you can bolt to a wall, and then the arm swivels both at the top of the riser and at a hinge in the middle of the arm. This will swing out of the way, and then can be extended about 4 feet into the room. You can also get rid of the riser and rig this up with a base and have it be a standing floor light. The lamp head swivels on both axes so you can point it any way you want. Even up at the ceiling for an up light. Well. I have this light. I bought it some time ago, I had designs for this light. Well, I had ideas of how I would use this light. My first idea was to use as a really cool reading light, and the base could be something I would make. I had a few ideas. The other use I had in mind is in my workshop, the long swiveling arm makes it great for working in a rather large area, just swing around to where I needed really bright light. The light is rather focused, so is not a flood type light, it is an intense bright sopt. The size of the spot depends on the distance the light is from the object being illuminated. of course you know that. This light is a Pelton and Crane Model# LF Plus. I did some research on it. There are some available. I found one exactly like this for $10,000, Ok, I am serious. Maybe I read the ad wrong, but it was some medical ... moresupply company, and it said just this one light. I like that price, but, I know, I know, I am not a medical supply house, I am just a guy who has odd and unusual eclectic taste. I like this light taken out of the medical setting and repurposing it, it will certainly be a eye catcher. Do YOU know anyone with this type of light in thier office, study, living room, bathroom, attic, shop, basement, closet, kitchen or garage? Or, a tattoo shop, or, yes, a dental office? Ok, the last 2 probably. I will let the pictures show the light. I had to use my vise in the work shop to hold it for the pictures, so background is rather busy. This light has a standard electrical plug. It uses a 150 watt halogen bulb. It has an on/off toggle switch at the head of light. And a 3 way light intensity knob near the swivel arm center. Now. You are asking yourself, why am I selling this light. well, I do not know that I am, there has to be a buyer, and I am certainly ok with keeping it. VINTAGE DENTIST MEDICAL LIGHT Acquired at an estate sale is this vintage dental/medical light by Castle Lights of the Wilmot Castle Co in Rochester. NY. Plate on it has this as Type T-V5A. Amps 1 and Volts 110-120. This light is possibly from the 1940’s or 50’s. This auction is for the arms. Fixture, light, mounting bracket and power cord. I did plug it in and it works! The light bulb is not included(sorry. I forgot to take it out for the photos) Measurements: Overall it is 4 feet when fully extended. The first shaft(furthest from the light head) is 17 inches; the next section of the arm is about 17 inches and the light fixture head is about 12 ¾ inches across and 8 inches tall. There are two other pieces; one I know goes with this light the other I am not sure but it is included. I did not test anything. The light is Castle brand. The motor for the drill turns over easily. But there is no drive belt for the drill. I forgot to include in the photos there is a milk glass shield that gets installed on the left side near the sink. Should be a glass bowl for the sink, but that is broken/missing. Pelton & Crane Dentist Dental lamp light LF Plus for tatoo or home decor
I bought this lamp to use in my shop as a workbench lamp but have gone another direction. It would be a great tattoo lamp. Workbench lamp, reading lamp or for other close work needing great illumination. There is a three position switch that controls the halogen lamp from low to high and an on/off switch near the head of the lamp. The plastic shield in front of the lamp has a crack along one edge but I imagine these are readily available, the crack isn't a detractor to lamp operation nor is it very noticeable. Also, the protective cover surrounding one of the lift springs is bent ant the end cap is missing; see the photo for details. Minor blemishes in the finish but nothing ugly. All joints move freely and lamp holds in place once positioned. The mounting is a vertical pipe(shown clamped in the jaws of the vise) and is 1 1/4" pipe ... morewhich is 1.66" in diameter and is approximately 3 1/2" long. This is a very rare Pelton& Crane Co primitive dentist/doctor floor light. It is in working condition and is a very solid piece. It swivels and bends exactly as you would hope and holds firmly in whatever position you put it though it is easy enough to adjust. It is very well made and has a very heavy base for ultimate stability. The lens is blue until lit and everything appears to be original. A small switch on the underside of the light turns it on and off. It works perfectly much of the time but sometimes you need to wiggle it a little. It measures approximately 62" tall at its maximum height and 14" in diameter at the base. Overall an excellent and rare piece that would make a nice addition to any home. Wonderful estate find from a 97 year old dentist must have been in his old office it appears to be art deco retro copper styling design. It was used everyday by the worn in ring and where his hand would be to adjust it. The adjusting is very cool hold to where you adjust to. Old Vintage Burton 1950's Military Medical Exam Light Doctor Dentist Surgeon WKS
Found along the Highway 127 yard sale this week. And were told it was military surplus from the 1950s-1960s era. IT still works, and aside from needing a gentle clean-up and some WD-40 on the knobs and grips, I don't see why tis couldn;t be a SHOWPIECE in your home or shop. No breaks to the glass, and the adjustor still works great, though the range of motion to tilt it is limited to what you see in those ast 4 pictures. It is about 6' high BEFORE you start adjusting upwards, which must go another 1 1/2' to 2' or so. That steel base(on castors luckily) weighs OVER 100 lbs, so we would like this one to be local pick-up only, but we are willing to drop it off at Greyhound, or have it packed for freight if you are willing to pay for those options. Dentist's xray viewing light assembly Photography Artistic Tracing
Up for your consideration is a pre owned. Gently used vintage xray viewing light, probably used at a dentist office. Could be used in photography applications as well. Assembly does work, however, the fluorescent bulb is burned out. I have tested with a good bulb, and it worked fine. I had two of these, and I tested this one with the bulb from the other one, which I have already sold. I will leave the bulb replacement to the new owner, as replacing the bulb would raise my selling price. Light is approx. 15" x 7" x 3" Faux woodgrain metal texture on the outside of it. It was produced by Pelton Crane Co. and was called an Equipoised Operating light. The fixture has four original heavy holophane teardrop shades. Each lamp has a plunger dimming mechanism. The plunger is located on the top of each light canopy and can be raised or lowered depending on needed brightness. As you move the plunger the light seems to refract differently as the bulb is raised or lowered inside the shade. It has a procelain finial 4 way rotary switch that turns on one light. Then 2 lights, then 3 lights, and finally all 4 lights. The 4 bulb lamp head is also situated on a ball so that it can be twisted and turned for better viewing. The 4 bulb lamp head measures 22" at the ... morewidest point including globes. The fixture has the original black paint with gold pinstriping. Original wiring should probably be replaced. 1841 Dime with the "W.W. LIGHT / DENTIST" counterstamp. Brunk L-371.
The rare Gold Rush counterstamp of William W. Light. The Sacramento, CA dentist, die-sinker, and die-maker for J. S. Ormsby and Co. Seldom available, unlisted in the Brunk reference on a dime, but similar to L-371. The classic curved. Prepared die reading"W. W. LIGHT/ DENTIST" deeply struck on a worn and somewhat granular 1841 Seated dime. According to the Brunk reference. Light left for California on August 1, 1849, aboard the steamer Von Humboldt. He set up a dental practice. But was also the die-maker for J.S. Ormsby and Co. one of the early private assayers and issuers of gold coins at a time when the West had few circulating federal coins and tremendous demand for gold coinage. W. W. Light cut the dies for Ormsby, although the coins were generally poorly made, struck from the dies with a sledgehammer. Reportedly, Light was ... morepaid $50.00 per day to supervise the operation(a lot of money back then! but he soon succumbed to the lure of mining and quit to try his hand at finding his own fortune of gold. Just as well- the Ormsby organization was closest to the gold fields and did a booming business assaying gold, but their coins were often underweight(yielding extra profit for the coiners) It reportedly was a poorly run operation, and was soon discredited for issuing coinage too far below standard. Few of their coins circulated later than 1850. This dime was struck with the W. W. Light counterstamp with too much force. Mid Century Modern Industrial Commercial floor lamp light dentist doctor
I have other Mid Century Modern lamps listed and more on the way. This is a Mid Century Industrial floor lamp 58.5 inches tall. It has normal wear to the finish but that makes it a very cool piece. The top you can rotate around so the light will shine in different directions and there is a little shield around the bulb that you can rotate to focus the light as well. There is an electrical recept by the switches so you can plug a tool or whatever into this lamp. This is the full size articulating light that you still find in dental offices today except this is an old one. It shows about average wear. It works correctly. It will swivel or pivot in about any direction you want. It would make a good bench light or to re-purpose into a mid- century design idea. The cord probably should be replaced if you intend to use it as it is the original cord. You'll need to configure the base to your design purpose. The arms are held together with a single bolt. I may need to remove the bolt from one or two sections to get it in the box so you might need to put it back together. It won't be anything complicated, just replacing a bolt or two. The way it sits now would require a huge box but if I take the arms ... moreapart it will fit in a much smaller box and save a lot on postage.
