Interesting design with a white marble base and attached instrument tray. This piece is completely restored. When I found this lamp it was in terrible condition. The last picture is of the lamp as found. I cleaned the base and the tray. Replaced the porcelain socket with an antique equivalent, replaced the arm, rewired the lamp with period style black twisted modern reproduction lamp cord and added the nice edison style filament bulb which will be included. The base. Tray, socket housing and plug are original. The arm. Cord and bulb are all that's new on this unusual piece. Oh. And I added some rubber feet to protect your desk from the marble. The paper shown in photo 6 reads, Directions for Using Congress Medical Apparatus. WITH MESCO DRY CELL BATTERY. The small switch to the left of the base is used to put the battery in operation. The cell is working only when this switch is on the contact stud, cousequently the life of the cell will be prolonged by taking care not to turn it on until everything is read for the application, and to turn it off promptly when through. The rheotome, or current iterrupter, should commence to hum or vibrate as soon as the switch is turned on its stud; if it does not do so, draw it towards the coil and release it suddenly. the contact screw should be adjusted so that the vibrating spring against the coil. ... moreThree different currents are obtained from the apparatus: the mildest or primary current(alone) by placeing the cord tips in the contact holes marked 1 and 2. It is a book discussing how to compound certain medicine and information on use of medicines. Included in the book is the signature of the original owner. Dated 1919. I can't make out the name of the doctor who owned this book. Also included is a page of notes. The book is like a time capsule. It is nearly 100 years old and includes entries about ether, cocaine, morphine. A nice curiosity for those who love medical antiques. I've often wondered what happened to the doctor who owned this book. For your consideration is an Antique Thermocauter set. C.1892. Though unmarked, I believe the set was invented by F.M. St. Omer Roy. Included are the case and all pieces photographed. This set has an additional pair of attachments(photo no.9) originally it would have included one extension and just two attachments. The leather case is a little brittle. Has a puncture and shows fraying. It snaps closed as it should. No weird smell. All the cauter pieces are made of stainless steel and in near mint condition. No rusting or oxidation. No dents. Antique medical 1800s doctors surgical urethral instruments in leather bound leather lined cas with nickel silver slide locks. Case is signed maker J.J. McGonigle Baltimore MD. Each instrument is marked and numbered and has a wonderful original nickel silver finish with age. Showing old medical history. All in very good condition. No cracks or damage 99% nickel finish. Case shows a little wear on edges. Some old pitting to leather inside edge. Has good hinges and working locks. Makers label is intact 99.9% with gold lettering. This came from a collection kept in the garage for years by my brother-in-law who was a practicing doctor as was his father and grandfather before him. He died at age 93. I know very little else about it except that it is sturdy. Thick glass with an indentation for a label. The stopper fits nice and snug. They both look to be from the early 20th century. Antique Doctors Bag Apothecary Medicine Medical Vials In Case LANSDALE PA CLINIC
A nice old leather doctors bag that was used to hold vials of medicine. The vials are empty with powder residue still in them and paper labels to address what they held. The bag is in good condition some wear to the leather. The case is intact and closes securily with a two button closure device that keeps case locked in place. The measurements of bag is 13 1/2 in long 6 in high and 5 in wide. There are some empty spots where vials are missing. Some of the labels on the vials read J. B. Jacobs M. D. D.D Northrop. M. D. P.L. Antique Phoropter Prism Diopters Eye Exam Doctors Equipment Medical Steampunk
I belive these are called phoropter thats my best guess from the research I have done. I dont really know much about these so i will do my best to describe them. The 1st piece pictured has a long flat metal rod connected to it. Has no lenses but I don't think it is suposed to. Appers to missing one small screw on top and one silver turning screw on back. Very cool looking peice. Next peice has 5 lenses 1 is all green 1 is all red 2 normal lenses and one that is kinda blacked out not sure if its suposed to be like that. All 5 lenses spin on the rod. Pretty sure a little pice of the plastic at end has broke off but it still holds the lenses on fine. Metal rod unscrews in the middle has some scrtches on the rod. Davis and Kidder patent magneto electric machine for nervous diseases. Patent date aug 1 1854. The box has had some repair and has some cracks.There is no belt and the crank is missing the knob. It is also missing the wired pieces that come off it. The top lid of the box is missing a piece of brass on the corner(see pic) It would make a nice restoration and conversation piece.

Antique No 4 D.D. Home Medical Apparatus Quack medicine / machine What a Shock!
Up for auction here today is a no 4 D.D. Home medical apparatus. I bought this from a estate sale a few years back for a 100.00 and I am just trying to recoup some of my money. It is missing quite a few different things to actually be considered complete. What it comes with is pictured in the above photographs. And what it is missing is outlined in the condition description. If you are missing a few parts to make yours complete. Or are looking for a box that is in decent shape then this could be the item for you. A couple of good points to mention about this apparatus are as follows: The label is in pretty good legible condition which is more then I can say for some of the other machines I have seen on ebay that have sold. The hinges are in good shape also with no broken flathead screws. The box is intact very well with only a minor knick ... moreon one of the corners The whole idea behind this machine is it is supposed to send electical pulses thruout your fingers and body to help in the cure of ailments and conditions. I do not have all the different parts however so I can not tell you if it is working. If you bid on this machine it should be assumed you are either bidding on a machine for demonstration purposes or to replace some missing parts You could possibly make this a functioning machine also with a little time and effort.
