The drawers which measure 3-1/8" high x 14-3/8" wide x 21" long have been refinished and slide easily in place. They have deep dovetail joints which are indicative of the good quality of this cabinet which weighs a hefty 38 pounds. The rest of the cabinet is painted dark green and can either be stripped to expose the oak or left as is. I'm not sure what this cabinet originally was used for but I think it may have had dividers along the metal tracks for catalogue cards. Selling a wonderful 1930s Golden Oak/ Mission Oak library/ recipe file cabinet/ox in very good condtion. This fine two drawer box retains the original solid brass hardware on the machine dovetailed drawers. THIS IS VERY HANDSOME IN PERSON BUT I AM A REALLY POOR PHOTOGRAPHER! The finish is lighter in color than these murky pictures indicate. Size is approximately 15 1/2" across. 6" tall by 14 7/8" deep. This was made from oak with a strong, prominent, handsome grain. The tall drawers make for an unusual piece and they are completely made of wood instead of metal. I do not know my woods well. But someone told me that the cabinet is made of walnut and the inside of poplar. I have included a close-up image, but let me know if you would like pictures of certain areas to confirm this. There are no markings of a manufacturer and I am unaware of when it was made. It is a nice, sturdy piece of furniture with normal wear that you get with anything this old and there are only a few flaws that are fortunately in areas which are rarely seen. One area is the very back of the top where some small pieces have come off. Also, the back of a drawer is split and the same area ... morehas come off another drawer but the unbroken piece is included. Finally, as you can see in the first side image, the bottom shows some wear. All drawers work fine and the cabinet is ready to be used and displayed right away. Gaylord Bros Inc. 60-Drawer Card Catalog Cabinet This beautiful cabinet was recently removed from a middle school that is scheduled for demolition. The cabinet comes apart into four sections for easy moving. Each section has 15 drawers. There is also a base/riser section. Two pull-out table sections, and a top cap. There is a mix of wood and plastic drawer bodies. I would guess that two of the units came with wood drawers and two were added later with plastic drawers. All of the drawer faces are the same, though if you look very closely the guide rod is slightly different in appearance. One guide rod is missing and a couple are loose or slightly bent. The top of the cabinet shows some wear. I also noticed some damage around one of the clips that helps align the sections when they are stacked up, but it is not visible when the units are stacked. ... moreOtherwise it has survived decades of middle school use in very nice condition. There is fluted, side trim on the top and beveled, recessed panels on the sides. It has 3"Japanned" brass handles and 3"Jappaned" brass label holders.1 old paper label still present! Original brass makers tag says SIEKERT& BAUM STATIONERY CO. MILWAUKEE WI. They were contemporaries and competitors of Globe Wernicke. I have added cardboard sides to drawers, so they are more useful now. This high quality piece is in wonderful condition. The cabinet measures 18 1/2 inches deep, 16 1/2 inches wide, and 14 inches tall(stand adds another 19 1/4 inches in height) Inside drawer measures 13 inches deep(with adjuster all the way back) 10 1/2 ... moreinches tall, and 4 1/4 inches wide. 18 drawer cabinet I am offering a vintage American made industrial steel cabinet. Not sure of the maker. But this is one solid old cabinet. Weighs close to 70 lbs. Has lots of scuffs and scratches as you can see. Two of the drawers are missing as you can see. Measures 34 x 10 1/2 x17 1/4. Drawers 5 x 2 3/4 usable inside, but measure 5.5 across outside.
