Perkins was one of the early pioneers in electric lighting. He was the primary individual that made the first public indoor lighting event possible. Charles Perkins invented many of the first every day items, that made electricity practical for everyone. In the 1890's, he was famous; and his name on a product inspired confidence, and his endorsement ensured success. The Perkins Electric Switch Co. was founded in 1891, and sold to Bryant in 1899. The switch plant was then relocated to Bridgeport Conn. Bryant was sold to Westinghouse, to provide more working capitol. Bryant continued to operate as an independent subsidiary, until 1927. Never ... moreseen anything like it; measuring 2&1/2" x 1& 1/2" with the front plate on. It is really well made, heavy brass housing for mechanisim. An antique lot of 7 heavy brass wall plates for the old push button style light switch. There are four doubles(2 gang) and three single switch covers. These are from a 100+ year old house in Hinton. WV. There is no real rust or corrosion to note but each has a delightfully aged brass patina from years of use. I've tried to take good pictures to reveal any details or imperfections so review them carefully.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION: Here is a big lot of antique push button electrical switches and switch plates. First picture shows everything. Other pictures are close-ups for your reference. Reserve is set to 100 bucks which is what I paid to get these. All pieces will be carefully(and individually) wrapped. And securely packed for safe arrival. Buyer pays actual postage costs. These are heavy because of the amount of brass. About the Switches All the switches are used All the switches have been tested good. I tested them using a 100 watt light bulb and connecting them to 110V power- so good is actually good under load None of the switches are cracked or broken Some of the switches have small scratches and edge chips. But nothing that would effect use Most of the switches are missing screws, About the Cover Plates Most of the plates are new-old-stock ... moreSome are used None of the used plates are bent or damaged Boxes on the NOS plates were filthy and crumbling(found in old barn caked in bird droppings) I threw them away NOS plates were wrapped in wax paper inside boxes and most were clean Some of the NOS plates had their boxes opened and are tarnished Some of the NOS plates were missing the envelope with mounting screws. I assume they were pirated decades ago All are brass but one- They are thick. Heavy, high quality. I did check with a magnet they are solid brass Brass was/is coated in clear lacquer- some of what looks like tarnish in the pictures is discoloration in the old lacquer. It reacted with the wax paper wrapping over time and turned a bit dark.
