VINTAGE lot 2 Sigma Nu fraternity colored enamel crest pin pieces OLD
Up for bid is a nice pair of old metal pieces from the Sigma Nu fraternity. They are both in the form of the fraternity crest. With black and white enamel on them. They are both rather small, coming in at not quite 7/16" tall. What is weird here is that they are not pins in the regular fashion. They have studs on the back side, but they are not screw-back and there is actually a hole at the top of the stud. I'm guessing these were used to make something back in the day, though I'm not entirely sure what. Found in a jewelry maker's salesman lot, and I'd previously sold several screw-back pins just like this with the Sigma Nu crest, these are the last two I have and they are just not quite like the others. Both pins are gold in color, but not real gold. The crest one has purple and off-white enamel. Neither has any marks on the back side, and both are in great shape with no fading or wear. Crest pin measures 1/2" tall and the letter pin is 9/16" across at the longest. The piece is designed to look like a flower with several leafs coming off of the stem. MAKER/STAMP: Unsigned. SIZE: Brooch is 2" x 1" Large rhinestones are 4mm across. CONDITION: Good! One rhinestone is missing. Several are yellowing. Mint is for jewelry that is like new condition with no wear. As if it was just purchased new.
