When using other clamps, you have to join in pieces and then hope that the angles align when putting the pieces together. With this clamp you can see the finished product right away and if you don't like how it is coming together you can loosen it, rearrangethe corners and then retighten. MY ONLY COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS EXACT CLAMP IS THAT THE MECHANISM THAT PUSHES THE LOCK AGAINST THE RATCHET GEAR IS WEAK SO YOU HAVE TO SOMETIMES ASSIST IT WITH YOUR FINGER ONCE YOU HAVE IT AS TIGHT AS YOU WANT IT SO IT LOCKS TIGHT. By Wolfcraft. Model 2 ES 22. One-handed spring-loaded"pinch to open" action makes clamping small frame corners easy(well, about as easy as it can be) Jaw capcity is 10mm- 22mm, or about 3/8" 3/4" The inner jaw slides to adjust the actual width so the two pieces of wood don't have to be the same. I used them on 1/2" lumber and found they held well(the outer jaws have a"grippy" feel to them) I used them to glue up opposie corners to make half-frames, then would come back and glue those together; four clamps let me do two frames at a time that way. The only reason I didn't keep using these is I needed to do a lot of frames, all one size, so I switched to shop-built jigs instead. They're clean and have been kept in a closed plastic box most of their lives so they look"showroom fresh" as ... morethey say. You can't see it in the pictures. But below each outer jaw is a slot for a hex bolt so you can attach these to a board or frame to make a simple jig for even more versatility. The gap between the outer jaws lets you clamp wood in a'T' joint as well as a corner- useful when assembling shelves.
