The bay has slots towards the front so that if your battery is too small, a spacer can be installed to snug the battery up to make good contact with the charging clips. Item came in with a battery, so I voltmeter tested the battery before plugging it in. The battery was low. I plugged the unit in, and green and red lights flashed, then stopped. Plugged battery into left slot and light lit up red, meaning it was charging. Later in the day, noticed the light had turned to green, meaning the battery charger was done. Did another voltmeter check on the battery and it was at full charge. Don't know how long battery will last, since I have no Walkie Talkie to test it out with, but did charge fully.
