SETH THOMAS BLACK& GREEN ADAMANTINE MANTLE CLOCK ca. 1900 SETH THOMAS BLACK& GREEN ADAMANTINE MANTLE CLOCK ca. 1900 This is one beautiful clock(so shiny that there are reflections in it in some of the pictures) The Adamantine is a rich deep Black with a lot of Green Marbleized Trim that really sets off the clock. And the shine is impeccable. Antiques are expected to have some imperfections, but this one is so pretty that it is hard to find any. This clock is from the early 1900's. The case was completely disassembled and the dirt and grime was hand-cleaned off with a non-abrasive cleaner. Then hand-rubbed and polished to a high-shine, on each and every piece(a very time consuming job) The case was reassembled in same manner as disassembled, using same antique screws, and all authentic antique parts that came off the clock(no adjustments ... moreor replacements were made) Just a clean, fresh smelling clock(no moldy, mil-dewy, smoke from prior 112 years or dirt is left) The Brass Bezel holds a signed Seth Thomas Roman ring type dial with the blue spade hands that tell you the time. Six brass column holders. With three on each side that are holding round onyx adamantine columns. The bottom of the clock and around the Bezel there is gold gilded scrolling that is excellent to look at in truly rich gold color(camera is not capturing how beautiful it is) The clock rests on the original Seth Thomas brass feet. A Lions head adorns each side, and both hold a ring in their mouth. All the brass has a gold gilded coat to keep it from tarnishing. The clock holds the original 89AD Seth Thomas 8 day time and strike movement. It is in excellent condition. And has been ultrasonically cleaned, bushings and springs were replaced where needed, then oiled with the finest German clock oil, and set in proper time and beat. A good strong runner. Now offered for your consideration is this antique Seth Thomas Adamantine Mantel Clock. Circa 1900. Completely Overhauled Movement! Original cleaned and waxed Adamantine Finish! We offer this clock in a low reserve auction. With a"Buy It Now" option. It features four celluloid"onyx" full-columns, two large celluloid"marbleized" half-columns, original bronzed column bases and capitals along with the ornate bronzed and feet; all with their beautiful aged genuine patina. Seth Thomas made this clock for the Larkin Soap Company in the early 1900's. It was known in the Larkin Catalog as the Number"35" Of the three Seth Thomas Clock Models that Larkin offered to their customers. The Model 35 was the most elaborate. The Larkin catalog description read as follows: This clock is the same material and construction ... moreas the No. 25. The design is more elaborate and the top is shaped. Has four round onyx-celluloid columns and large half-columns of dark-green. Variegated marble. Plain black body and top outlined in gilt. White dial with gilt filigree center and black Arabic figures. Length 18 inches, Height 12 inches. T o acquire this clock from Larkin. You would have to redeem five certificates, or buy a $10 assortment of soaps, which would be the equivalent of approximately $270 today. That's a LOT of soap! The date code on the bottom of this clock's case is no longer legible. But these clocks are from circa 1905 give or take 10 years. You can still see the"No. 35" stamp on the bottom. Beautiful black adamantine Seth Thomas six pillar clock
This is a pretty original Seth Thomas adamantine clock. All the ornaments were removed. Ultrasonically cleaned and sprayed with a very fine lacquer. They retain their original copper color and patina. They were in no way polished or painted. The brass dial and bezel were polished to a bright finish and lacquered. It does have some dings and is a little sticky opening. The case itself is original- just cleaned and polished. The dial shows some wear as it is also original and bears the trademark Seth Thomas. The works also bears the Seth Thomas trademark and has been ultrasonically cleaned and oiled. It ran and chimed for a week. The gong is the heavy metal cathedral gong. The bob is shinny brass and I do no know if it original or not. The color is black with rose or pink or light tan- I am color challenged so I am not sure- I know it is not ... moregreen as I have one of those to compare it to. Maybe the pictures will be more helpful. The clock inside is clean. I will start this auction off at $0.99 and let the market determine the value. There is no reserve. Antique Seth Thomas Adamantine Mantel Clock Up for your consideration is a beautiful. Original Seth Thomas ADAMANTINE Black Mantle Clock. This is a beautiful clock; it is in original condition and has not been tampered with at all except a replaced back cover. The case of this clock is extremely beautiful with a black onyx type Adamantine(not painted) finish with a colorful marble look in excellent very shiny condition(See pictures) It is very durable and easy to keep clean. This finish has no cracks or pieces missing after over 110 years! It was made circa 1890's. It has a signed"Seth Thomas Clock Co" 8-day time and strike movement(number 89) which chimes the half hour on a dainty sounding cup bell and counts the hour on the hour. With a rich sound on a cathedral gong. The movement runs very well and keeps good time. The movement ... morewas just professionally cleaned. Oiled, and checked for proper operation. This will save you money right away- you will not have to service this clock for several years. The case is beautiful and in outstanding condition with its original finish and six marble looking columns with brass supports! The clock is all original- there are no extra screw holes in the case or on the fancy brass bezel. The signed dial is in great condition(see picture) Most have faded or been replaced by now. Still easy to read- with aged patina. The solid brass fancy designed bezel is is also great looking. It has an adjustment for fast and slow on the dial which can be turned by the small end of the key. So you don't have to take the clock down from it’s shelf to adjust it for slow and fast. The hands are great(see picture) The clock still has its original matching feet. All of the fancy decorations and columns are original and perfect. Unbelievable! The movement and dial are all signed Seth Thomas! Clock is complete with a correct Seth Thomas pendulum and a brass double-ended key. You are bidding on a rare Seth Thomas U.S. Nav y black ship's wall clock. This one is rare because it is the 8 1/2" dial and a 24 hour clock. This was one of the largest dial's made by Seth Thomas. Please look at all the pictures they will give you a good description of this great clock. The date on the clock housing inside is 1-1944. That is WW 11 folks and of this listing the onl y one on Ebay. This one has a low buy it now because of a couple things w rong with the clock. First there is a place missing from the case I believe it is picture number 6. I am guessing this happen ed when trying to take it down with a screw still hol ding it to the wall. Will not be noticeable when it is hanging on the wall because it is at the top of clock. Also I have had it running for 5 days and it runs well but looses an hou r over a 24 hour ... moreperiod. I was told by a clock person that it needed to be cleaned. The glass is in great shape along with the orginal cork seal. The case is free from any other cracks or breaks other than the one I mentioned earlier. Also dial face shows minimal wear for it's age and clock comes with a key for win ding it. 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 1 1/4 black Bakelite(faux marble? with flat metal feet and 2 1/2 in diameter wind up alarm clock made by Seth Thomas Co. marked: made in USA. there are some surface spots on the back of the clock case(Bakelite part) that may clean off but I don't know what's safe to use and won't damage to the finish. sometimes the clock gets loose in the case and you have to push it in tighter. I don't know anything about the way the clock is suppose to be removed for care so maybe it can be adjusted to fit tighter-I've never removed any screws or otherwise disassembled this clock. Lovely gold incised scrolling is on the lower bottom and around the Bezel that is just beautiful in rich gold color. The pictures tell you how beautiful this clock truly is. Measurements are: 16-1/2" wide x 11" tall x 7" deep. A signed Seth Thomas. Restored Arabic Dial is offset with an original Fancy Pie Type Seth Thomas Brass Bezel, and Spade Hands that tell you the time. B) for the month of February Seth Thomas Black with Tan Inlay Adamantine Mantle Clock. It is Seth Thomasa's model called the Brussels, as shown in my T ran Du Ley book in comparison in the last of my pictures. This is one beauty of a clock of 113 years old. The case was disassembled. Hand-cleaned and hand-polished making it very shiny. The brass Seth Thomas feet and side Sphinx heads, all have a hint of gold-gilt to keep them from tarnishing. The tan marbleized adamantine trim is inlaid on the front of the clock, and is just beautiful, with all the lovely incised gold-gilded scrolling around it. Look at all the details on this one, great ... moreshape for it's age. Minor imperfection here and there, but barely noticeable because of the dark rich black color and marbleized trim. This clock is a prize to behold; rare and very unusual. Measures: 16-3/4" wide x 11-1/2" tall x 7" deep. A signed Seth Thomas. Restored Arabic Dial is offset with a fancy pie-type bezel and spade hands tell you the time. The clocks 8 day time and strike movement is a signed hip-style Seth Thomas 3-5/8 Movement(Made in the U.S.A. It has been ultrasonically cleaned. Bushings replaced where needed, and springs replaced if broken. Then it was oiled with a fine clock oil and set in proper time and beat.
