Vintage WWII US Navy Radar Tech Hickok 133B Electrical Volt Ohm Test Multi-Meter Up for auction is a vintage WWII US Navy Aircraft Chief Radio Technician's Electrical Testing Meter Hickok Model 133B. This belonged to my Grandfather Robert M. Pappy" Watson who. In addition to being a Texas panhandle radio and television broadcaster of some note after WWII, was in the US Navy during the war. See final photo of his grave marker(grave marker is not included in this auction) This was his personal test set and I inherited it after his passing. He told me many interesting stories about riding along with pilots on checkout flights in whose aircraft he was installing this new technology that they called radar. After receiving this meter I removed the main panel and found a slight amount of corrosion due to the batteries still being installed. ... moreI removed the"D" cell and unsoldered the two smaller batteries so as to prevent any further damage. The insulation on the test leads themselves has become rather brittle over the years so the wires would need to be replaced for a the piece to be restored to working order. Untested and offered for sale in as is condition but I am confident that it could easily be brought back to working order. This item has a great deal of sentimental value, as I am sure you can imagine, but times are financially tough at the moment and I am sure he would understand and support the fact that I have decided to auction it off to help pay bills. The lid is hinged and removable. The lid also has a rather impressive crash course in electrical theory attached that is quite fascinating. While researching this meter I checked radiomuseum.org and this design dates back to 1929-1930 and was used in portable test equipment. This meter is from an estate of amateur radio gentleman. The meter has five scales indicating values of 0-4. 0-8, 0-16, 0-160, and 0-800 A.C. Volts. On the face of the meter are the following identifiers: JEWELL ELECTRICAL INSTRUMENT CO. This is a fluxmeter that was used at ohio state university. Very nice shape. This unit is in excellent shape for its age. It's dated 1946. The pointer moves fluidly and does not appear broken. When you open the box up the pointer slowly starts moving with the slightest motion with a very smooth consistent motion. Very clean. It has old leather handle that i would not recommend holding it by. If you are looking at this then you know more about it than i do, so please look over photos carefully to make sure this item meets your requirements. There are no returns offered on used items. WESTON ELECTRICAL INSTRUMENT COMPANY. NEWARK N. J. MODEL 30, 4458 Seven patent dates running from November. 1888 through July, 1901. 8.25" long. 4" wide, 3 5/16" deep. 4 lbs. 4 oz. There are three terminals on one side labeled LC40, C, LC38. Two terminals on the other side are labeled MC+ and MC40. Wood is cherry with some minor scratches and dings. Glass is unbroken. Metal name-plate is pitted but legible. I think this may be some kind of D.C. relay. But not sure. I thought it looks like a coffin when you look down in it. Comes from the estate of a serious radio. Electric instrument, audio and video collector. It was stored in an unlabeled cardboard box that disintegrated when opened. Check back for more items from this 60 year collection.

Vintage Hickok Multimeter Model 4956 volts, mills, ohms, electrical test meter
This is a nice old meter. I tested a DC voltage and it worked fine. I did not try any other tests. The needle will zero only when setting flat on its back. There is an old Burgess 4 1/2 volt battery in it that showed 3.3 volts. And a Ray-O-Vac 1 1/2 volt battery that showed only 179.5 mV. I wonder if they may have picked up a slight charge from the testing that I did, as I assumed that they would be completely dead. The case is in pretty good condition. It has a few stains and chips here and there. The leather handle shows some cracking. The test leads are brittle and have multiple cracks in the casing. They are also tied in a loose knot that I didn't attempt to undo. The unit is approximately; 7 1/2" tall. 4 3/4" wide, and 3 1/2" deep including the thickness of the meter lens/housing.
