Vintage Industrial Crouse-Hinds Electrical Junction Socket w/ Conduit & Light
I did some digging in the garage of a recent estate sale and was pretty happy to find this unique piece. It is a vintage Crouse-Hinds electrical box/socket with a flexible conduit attached on one end and an old light socket on the end of that. I don't know if the whole thing is original or if someone put the conduit and light in afterwards. The entire thing. When extended, measures about 26 inches long. I think it'll be easiest to describe it piece by piece. 1. Crouse-Hinds Socket: it measures 4.5 inches tall by 2 inches wide and 2 inches deep. The attachments on top and bottom are 1/2 inch in diameter. There is a great old orange color that remains although some has chipped off. The metal is stamped on the back. Crouse-Hinds Co. Pat's Passed& Pending' The ceramic plug receptacle condulet on the front is ... morestill intact and also reads, Norbitt Pat'd Crouse-Hinds Co' and also closer to the plug input it says'Hubbell' and'15A 125V 10A 250V' 2. Flexible Conduit: painted gold but base metal is silver tone. It flexes and still remains taught enough to retain the shape you put it. It measures 18 inches long. 3. Light Socket: the switch reads'BRYANT' Switch appears to operate fine. There is a distinct click when turned. I have not opened it up at all. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's fully wired.
