This is a small lot of 3 Weston Electric meters. I have no way of testing these meter but they do appear to be in good condition with no dents. Dings, chips, cracks, or rust, but there are some scuffs and scratches from use. The smallest meter marked U.S.N. TYPE CV-22427 ZERO POWER LEVEL 6 MW. 600 OHMS. MODEL 506 has a diameter of 2 11/16" across the face. The other gauge marked MILLIAMPERES D.C. MODEL 616 no. 2897 measures 3 1/4" across the face. The last gauge is marked WESTON VOLTMETER MODEL 301 NO. 319095 and measures 3 1/4" across the face. These would also work great for an industrial or steam punk style art project. Weston model 785 STEAMPUNK industrial electrical test meter and manual repro.
Here you see for sale an old but fairly-clean Weston model 785 electrical test meter. The generic term for this sort of instrument back in the day was"VOM" As in"Volt-Ohm Meter" I have NOT made any attempt to hook it up or to perform ANY tests at all. That's YOUR responsibility. Hence the magic Ebay phrase"FOR PARTS OR REPAIR ONLY! The finish on the wood case is rough. But still there. I see NO evidence of leaked-battery damage to the battery holders. Hinges, handle and latch are intact as seen in the pictures. The contacts on the rotary switches have not been cleaned. But appear surprisingly bright and free of the usual fuzzy black silver oxides. This leads me to suspect that it was stored in the proverbial"cool dry place" The basic rating for a VOM is expressed in"Ohms per Volt" This meter ... moreis rated at 20.000 ohms per Volt DC and 1000 ohms per Volt AC. This also means that the lowest FULL-SCALE DC-Volts range is 100 millivolts. Likewise, the most-sensitive DC-current range is 50 microamps full scale. It has NO protection circuits beyond the user's good judgement. These high-sensitivity inputs have separate binding posts not shown in a close-up picture. I will include the two probes shown. This sale also includes a modern-day reproduction of the original manual. One visible defect is a cracked corner on the front panel that has been repaired with some kind of brown glue. What you see is what you get. The modern-day functional equivalent to this instrument will literally fit in the palm of your hand. This thing is what the young folks call a totally STEAMPUNK specimen. I have serious misgivings about the brittle black bakelite panel. So it will be packed in an oversized carton with plenty of fat bubblewrap to protect it from 21st-century"drop-kick" package-sorting technology. A nice old FDNY Alarm Box panel meter. Measures a current of 0-150 milliamperes. Which is exactly what you would want for a Gamewell home alarm system display. The meter has been tested& functions properly. It mounts into a 2 1/8" hole and is fastened with 3 screws. The condition is very good but with a minor stress crack in the painted brass bezel. The glass is not scratched, chipped or broken. Listed as-found and in need of a good cleaning. This meter was made by the Weston Electrical Instrument Corp. Newark, NJ. It is model number 354. I do not know the exact age, but imagine it is likely circa 1930's-1940's. A very nice meter for a fire alarm enthusiast that is seldom available. Fast.
