Here is a nice old vintage portable reel to reel recorder. Speaker or amp? This unit is clean and in great condition, but it does not work! I took photos of all sides- closes into a nice carry case and the lid is also removeable. There appears to be a"fan" inside the bottom, a plug in for"extsp-phono-mic" in front see photo. The serial and model specs are on the side- see photos. The microphone reads Teisco. I do not know about vintage electronics or amps. So I described and took photos as best I could, please email any questions. This could be a wonderful mid century display piece or prop. Or maybe someone could repair it or use the parts, it would be a shame to take it apart because it is so retro cool! TASCAM 102 MK II RACK MASTER CASSETTE TAPE DECK PARTS REPAIR
One very well cared for Tascam 102 MK2 rack mount tape deck. Stopped working many years ago. So i replaced it but never had it repaired. comes from a smoke/ pet free studio owned by a responsible adult. almost no scratches or marks on it at all. looks like new still. no rack wear. rubber band on motor is broken. i replaced it with another(unsuitable band) to no avail. eject button also sticks a bit, but it opens. MIGHT BE AN EASY FIX. i originally paid a little over $400 for it and only used it for about a year and a half. has been in a rack in climate controlled studio for about 15 years, untouched. Was powered on to remove the tape and keep showing a flashing"E" on the front display. Tape was ejected without having to open the unit. But error is still shown. When powered on we can hear motors and parts moving inside, but no other tests were made. There are a small dent in front of the top cover from failed attempts(not from us) to remove the jammed tape from the unit but nothing enough to prevent proper operation. I don't really have cassettes any more. CDs are even kind of old hat now. This got no more use for ages. And when I thought I should sell, it wasn't working, poked about inside and the rubber driving bands have lost their spring for being perished. One of those things that is probably replaceable, but not my tech area, and not really worth my time. Anyone else is welcome for a go. Seems a bit nice to bin this is all. The radio shack 9 vold battery is depleted but I tried a fresh one which did not power up the unit. The tuning slider is operated with a thumb wheel and works fine. The antennae is missing from the box. There is also a threaded connection on the side of the tuner for which I dont understand the function. At any rate. Auto Reverse 2 Channel 4 Track With New Belt- Serviced However. The Take-Up Motor doesn’t have enough torque for Play or Fast FWD. It may be a simple adjustment or it may need a new motor. The motor is activated by the switches but it can’t pull the tape. The 4010 Series is possibly the most popular of all the TEAC Decks. The GSL is the top of the line in the 4010's. It features High Density Ferrite Heads(a diamond-hard material virtually impervious to wear) which were guaranteed for life. It also incorporates a Pause Control for smooth recording starts as well as"Quik-Lok" reel holders(doing away with the annoying rubber reel caps) and a user friendly reel table screw height adjuster for perfect tape alignment. In addition, the pinch roller assembly has been completely removed, disassembled, re-lubricated and treated with rubber rejuvenator for years of trouble free operation. All controls operate smoothly. The amp controls were cleaned and lubricated with tuner cleaner. The heads have been cleaned and demagnetized and the case has been cleaned and re-oiled, BUT there is a Problem. The Take-Up Reel Motor doesn’t have enough torque to pull the tape. The"Record" lights both illuminate and the VU meters light up but since I can’t play a tape. I'm selling a Sony TC-D5M Cassette Tape Stereo Field Recorder. Comes with the original Sony power adapter. These were top of line. Stereo tape recorders that some professional NPR/Radio and Audio Engineer people still use because of their high quality audio output and durability. The one I'm selling is in used, partially working condition- the playback function seems to work fine but the recording function has an issue. When it records, it creates a tremolo sounding effect. Maybe it's an easy fix(i.e. belts) I don't know. It's also missing it's battery door, though using tape over it instead works fine. Please read carefully. For auction is a PROJECT/one Model TRP-870. 8 Track Tape Deck with recording feature. This tape deck is very clean and in excellent cosmetic condition, but needs some work to be restored to full working order. I will try to describe the issues with this tape deck as best I know. I found a tape and tested the deck. The deck does playback. But there is some bleed-though from adjacent tracks. From what I understand, the head will have to be aligned. There appears to be an alignment adjust screw, accessible from the bottom compartment) I also found the plastic head mount is cracked(see pictures) This could be the cause of head misalignment. The head probably needs cleaning. The time/counter appears to have a partially cracked gear and does not advance. I removed the drive belt from the counter to prevent drag or wear. However, it does not play. It will wind and rewind, but won’t play. The capstan pole does not turn freely. I believe it has a separate motor which is either defective or not connected. You can see the capstan pole in the last photo with a pencil pointing at it. I can turn the pole by hand, with difficulty, but when I push the“Play” button, the capstan and tape don’t move. Pioneer RT-909 reel to reel tape deck for repair or parts
This deck has three known operational issues. It needs a new capstan belt. Two rebuilt or replacement pinch rollers and the pinch roller/guide assembly needs cleaning and lubricating(it does not move up and down easily, usually from old grease that has hardened) All three motors and all lights and meters working. The metal cabinet shows the typical surface oxidation as pictured but can easily be made to look brand new with a can of flat black spray paint. The feet are broken on the back ends as shown but the deck sits very stable and level. Without useable pinch rollers, no way to test playback/record or discover any other possible operational issues but the heads appear to be in good condition. My guess is this would be a good candidate for repair rather than just a parts unit but buyer purchases with the understanding there could be other ... moreunknown issues.
