HP 6186C DC Current Source Power Supply, 300 Volt Agilent
Hi- this is a rather awesome. High end, old school current source. This HP 6186C is about 40 years old. It has a single turn pot to adjust the output voltage limit between 0 and 300V, and a 10 turn pot to adjust the current limit from 0 to 1ma/10ma/100ma(selectable by a rotary switch) Due to this device's age. It needed a bit of work before I was willing to sell it. The rotary switch had to be cleaned(contacts measured about 100-1K ohms before cleaning, 1-2 ohms after) the 10 turn pot had to be cleaned(it had rough spots, but now is very smooth) and the incandescent bulb for the voltage limit had to be replaced(it had burnt out) I also checked all the electrolytic caps and they are all still performing well, so they did not require servicing. I then re-calibrated it. Note that you should expect any device this age to need this kind of ... morework done. So I'd advise caution with other auctions where the sellers have not been as thorough. Cosmetically. This 6186C looks great. No ugly stickers, no residue, etc. It has a few scuffs(hard not to when it has been on this planet about 40 years! This is an awesome piece of American made equipment that I expect will remain useful for many, many years to come. It was made in the era when electronics were designed to be serviceable- so things like cleaning out the pots and rotary switches are not excessively difficult to do. Also. Note that the only thing included in this auction is the HP 6186C. Other pieces of test equipment are shown in the photos but are not included. You get the HP 6186C, and that's it! Please contact me if you want any specific tests done with this device. However. I have been pretty thorough in my testing so I am fairly confident that it is 100% functional. KEPCO BOP 100-1M Bipolar Variable DC Power Supply 4-Quadrant, American made!
This is a neat piece of equipment that I am selling. It is a 4 quadrant supply. Meaning it can sink and source current with a positive or negative output. It can act as a voltage or current source. Note that I have photos showing it operating in all four quadrants. Current/voltage can be programmed through 10 turn potentiometers on the front or as +-10V signals on the front. It has a bandwidth of about 1-2KHz(the oscilloscope photo shows it outputting a 100V 1KHz sinusoid) When I received this device it was missing the"PC-15" programming connector. This is a little jumper that goes on the back of the device that enables the front panel. I have constructed one(as can be seen in the photos) that works just as well as the original. You can buy a factory one from Kepco for about $100. I don't think it's worth it, personally, ... moresince the jumper I made(for about $2) works just as well. If you would like, I can also include for free another card edge connector in case you want to try programming the device from the back panel. or you can buy the PC-12 from Kepco for like $75- your choice! This front of this device looks pretty good and clean. A couple scuffs. But nothing bad. The meters are almost perfectly clear, except for a smudge on the voltage that does not effect use at all(barely worth mentioning) The top and bottom of the device show some signs of rust, as can be seen in the photos. Obviously, this does not effect functionality in any way whatsoever. So. As far as I can tell this device is 100% operational, and I will guarantee that for the first 15 days of ownership. If there are any specific tests you would like me to run on this device please let me know- I have a fairly complete lab and am happy to verify functionality for you. But as you can see I've already been pretty thorough in my testing of this device. Note that the only thing included will be the Kepco BOP 100-1M(as well as the fake PC-15 jumper I made) I have other pieces of test equipment in the photos that will NOT be included.
