Keller Jefferson 601 Power Hacksaw, 12" blade, Refurbished, Works Great!!!,
Up for sale is a Keller Jefferson 601 power hacksaw in good working condition. The saw was purchased for my shop but something else replaced it right after I finished up refurbishing it for use. It looks great but due to a quick rain shower. The saw has a some light surface rust again. It will clean up easily or can be used as is. The pictures in this listing are a combo of before and after the rain The saw was disassembled. Degreased and prepped for a fresh coat of machine grey. Any part not painted was wire wheeled to remove any junk or surface rust. All of the oillite bushings were pressed out and replaced with new ones. The on/off switch was bad so a new one has been installed. The male cord plug was missing so a heavy duty plug now completes the cord. The gibb screws were maxed out for adjustment so they have all been replaced with longer ... moreones and adjusted for the correct tension/torque. The remaining hardware on the saw has all been replaced with stainless steel so it will never fail or get seized due to rust or corrosion. I also installed a new Starrett Blue Blade 12" saw blade that has made one cut for a test run. The saw is in great working condition but it's not 100% original. I don't know if all Jefferson saws came with an automatic shut off assembly but this saw doesn't have it present. The back half of the vise has been replaced with a much taller section of angle iron to accommodate larger stock. It looked original to me but after some research I determined it isn't original. The motor is a Westinghouse 1/3 hp and seems adequate for the size of the saw. A bigger motor could be installed if necessary. When the motor is being used. It has a tendency to want to"walk" while cutting. This is from the stand it's bolted too. It's a decent stand but the saw would benefit from a sturdy bench/stand.
