Vintage Alaska Native Fringed Deerskin Beaded Mittens, Gloves, with fur
Gorgeous vintage Alaska Native fringed gauntlet style deerskin mittens. They are in great condition; the deerskin is soft and supple. The beadwork is intact and the flannel lining is still in good condition. I believe the fur details are rabbit and the inside"finger"portion of the mittens is also lined with fur. The gloves could actually still be used; and would be luxuriously warm in a very cold climate. I don't know the history, but they were represented to me as Alaska Native in origin. Up for bid is a pair of well made kids deerskin cuffed gloves or gauntlets. These are not your usual dime store kids gloves but more custom from a saddle shop of Western outfitter store. The lady I got these from worn them as a child in the early 1950's. She said they were bought for her out of a Keyston Bros. catalog, although not marked. They looks like something a wild west show performer would wear. They are double& triple stitched in excellent useable condition, very supple& soft like doeskin no rips or tears, but they are stained and discolored& scuffed, nothing distracting. As shown in the pictures they are cuffed, fringed, and spotted. A great go with for your cowboy, cowgirl, boots, hats, chaps old west collection. These would probably fit a 7 to 12 year old child. These gloves have been worn. By me and have some grit on the hands, as pictured. I wear a woman's large size. They measure 4 1/2 inches across the wide part of the palm. I bought them at an estate sale and I do not know the tribe or when they were made. The fabric lining the cuffs suggests that they were made in the 1930's as the pattern is consistent with the cotton made during that time. I do know vintage fabric as I have collected for 45 years. The deerskin is white, like brain tanned leather. They have been well stored. Ask questions, no returns, plan to pay within 3 days of end of auction. Be happy.

The glove is for a narrow thin hand with long slender fingers. Please go by the measurements for size. Glove measures wrist to top of middle finger, 9 1/2 inches. It measures 3 inches across palm about 2/3 down thumb. The stitching is in nice condition. Photo 1, glove on left has light pinkish area to the right of x's, couple of finger tips darkened. New Deerskin Dress Gloves, Cocoa Brown, Longer Length, Cashmere lined, Size 7
This is a beautiful pair of deerskin gloves. They were given to me years ago and never worn. They are in the original wrapper and the gloves are still tied together. They are very soft leather and lined with a brown knit cashmere fabric. The length is longer length. I believe these are called 4 button length but there are no buttons. They are above the wrist gloves. They go up the arm a bit. The gloves have no trim or decoration on top. They are size 7. Most gloves today are sized small. Medium etc. If you do not know your numerical size just place a tape measure below your knuckles and wrap it around over the back of your hand and over your palm. Ignore the thumb. Where the tape meets is your approximate size in inches. Unless you have very short fingers the fingers should fit. These are snug fitting gloves, perhaps will stretch a bit with ... morewearing. The color is one that will go with just about anything. The photos came up showing more of a red brown color. These are cocoa brown. My daughter said they are the color of Swiss Miss. I have an average size woman's hand: these gloves are tight and the finger length is too short. For these reasons. I am guessing that they are a size Small. They are in overall very good to excellent condition and are without rips or tears with very little sign of wear. They are also very soft to the touch and are not lined.
