Vintage Small Mouthed Bass on Wooden Plaque
So my wife sends me up to Cleveland yesterday to pick up a sideboard that she purchased online. Not a bad trip at 741 miles round trip but whatever she wants. I go get it. The sideboard is very heavy and in taking the drawers out this afternoon so I can lift it. I soon knew the reason why.the auction house had not cleaned the drawers out. And there is the fish. I believe it to be a small mouthed bass as the sticker on the back says"Bass" in addition to dating it at 1978 with the name of the proud owner in addition to being stamped by the taxidermist. The fish measures 15 1/2" long and is in relatively good condition. I did see two condition issues and they are a small tear in the tail. And some discoloration in the gill. Both of these are pictured in pictures 2 and 3. The plaque itself measures 18 1/2" by 9 1/2" and ... morehas a couple of nicks on it but nothing severe. If you see some dust in the picture. It belongs to a fish that has been stored in a drawer of a 19th c. sideboard. I did not even begin to clean it off- will let the new owner do this. And as everyone knows. A fish does not need to be in a sideboard drawer- it needs to be hanging on your wall! Ask any questions you may have and thanks for looking.
