I am an avid flyfisher since the age of four. A native Oklahoman, I have fished all across the continental US and in South and Central America. I am a Wisconsin-licensed flyfishing guide for trout and smallmouth bass in streams in southern Wisconsin since 1993 and developed 1Guide Flyfishing in 2019. I guide for pike, bass, and musky by boat in area lakes. I also guide for seasonal steelhead, brown trout, king salmon, and coho salmon by wading the Lake Michigan tributaries. For targeting Smallmouth Bass in area lakes, I guide from the poling platform of a Hells Bay Professional 17.8 flats skiff. For guiding in the backwaters of river systems, I use either a 15ft Grumman Sport Boat or a 12ft V-bow aluminum skiff. I maintain fly gear for my anglers to use and can highly recommend products from Fishpond USA, Simms Fishing Products, Tibor Reels, Sage flyrods, G.Loomis flyrods, and Airflo USA flylines. I also tie custom flies and build custom fly rods. I frequently travel to the southern Yucatan in Mexico each year to fish for bonefish, tarpon, permit, and snook. I am a passionate conservationist and maintain affiliations with Harry & Laura Nohr Chapter of Trout Unlimited, the Wisconsin Smallmouth Alliance, and the Dubuque Fly Fishers. I retired as a tenured professor in the Art Program at UW-Platteville in 2021 and continue to produce artworks in soft pastel and oil painting mediums.
