Very close to antique, kitchen utensil. I believe that the original purpose was to press fruit. If anyone knows the exact purpose, please email me. Actually, it makes for a great massager. Marked on the heavy metal handle is U.S. Pat. 1674412 and Androck. The patent number would date this piece to 1928. Markings are on the extended handle and embossed into the metal. Size: approx length is 8 inches; approx width at the top of the wooden roller is 4 inches. Condition: very good. The wooden roller works perfectly. The metal handle has a darker aged patina. Patent number and manufacturing marks deeply embossed on the extended metal handle. A bit heavy– Well ... morepackaged. Will be close to the First Class weight limit, but still under- Check out my! Not sure what small duplicator printing press this is for. 11 1/2" LONG 3 1/2 WIDE Both are oscillating rollers. The rusted one gets stuck sometimes when oscillating. The darker one has no rust. Oscillates, but has two cracks shown in photo. Maybe you can interchange the guts because the rusted one has no cracks. Start with the handle up and the long pin down(sideways) Then put the wheel on the outside, push the handle down and it pulls the bearing out. Repeat to pull out the other bearing. To use the press. Stand the pin up and put a bearing down on the pin. Next put the wheel with the outside of the wheel(usually the printed side) facing up and put another bearing on the pin. Tip the pin down(sideways) and carefully pull the handle down. You may have to guide the bearings a bit to get started. The old cast roller comes with two solid brass rolls. One is marked, W.E. Norris& Bros. M. T. and the other is marked, London Butter Scotch. The only thing I can locate about W.E. Norris is that he was an architect in Helena, Montana for many years. Perhaps he gave away candy at Christmas? At any rate, this is an interesting old candy press. Biggest Antique hand roller I ever saw. If you have some big inking to do this is the roller you want. The rubber roller itself measures 10" wide. Unfortunately it does have a few indentations but I am sure the roller could be replaced if necessary. In all it measures 13" wide by 10 1/2" from the end of the handle to the rubber roller.
