The bottom grill surface has a depression in the center. You should be able to see it in the pictures. The bottom grill is also cracked in the top right near the grease drain. The piece measures 16" wide and 23" long including the hinge. I spent about 1 1/2 hours cleaning the unit. The surfaces are clean. But there is still some cleaning left to do.
