We only printed 3 of these in this size and on double weight paper, probably never print in this size ever again. This is an amazing lot of WWII historical documents associated with Pearl Harbor survivor Lieutenant Commander Raymond W. Kimm. Please scroll down below description for more images of this lot. The lot includes a scrapbook following the progress of the war. Including articles from the bombing of Pearl Harbor, photos of Lt. Kimm, his military I D, a document from the President of the United States stating Kimm's Satisfactory Service during WWII signed by Secretary of the Navy James Forrestal, a typewritten account of an ordeal on board a Japanese ship as a POW, and an interesting typewritten radio broadcast telling of an atomic bomb attack on Chicago(The War That Must Not Come) as well as other documents pertaining to Kimm's service. Kimm enlisted in the fall of 1940 and was on the battleship Utah which sank December 7th at Pearl Harbor. ... moreKimm as among those rescued. A photocopy of a newspaper article is included in which Kimm gives a brief account of the attack: I awoke to the sound of anti-aircraft guns. The roar of planes, shattering glass and the rocking of the ship. Being half awake, I thought it rather a little too real for practice. I jumped up, pulled on my trousers and one shoe. By that time I heard the boys outside my room hollering'Jap Raid! The ship was listing. I went back into the room and got my life jacket, even though I can swim well. A lot of the boys were in the water, but some were hesitating. I hollered at them that I was going in. So down in the water I went, the earliest morning swim I've ever taken. Then I hollered to the boys to come on in-and swam away. I thought maybe the Utah would suck me down, never having experienced this before. Finally, I got to a key, the thing the ship was tied to. Unlike topographical maps or state maps of the era issued by most cartographers. The underlying premise of these Civil War maps was to depict the cartography as it specifically related to events of the Civil War. Thus, individual battles, small forts, troop movements, local rail lines, panoramic views, etc. are often rendered and explained with precision in a manner quite unique. Also, the very large format of the sheet allows for a level of detail which makes the map perfect for display or study by a Civil War buff, since the detail it contains is to be found almost no where else on this scale. In VG. Mostly clean condition. Map displays couple short minor edge-splits in the wide blank margins, all of which will disappear once the map is matted for display. 2-Antique Porthole I Have 2- 3 dog porthole's from a 1930's Stentonbush Motorized Coastal/Harbor Tanker Built by Ira S. Bushy and Sons in Brooklyn NY. servicing New York Harbor. This boat caught fire and exploded while taking on bulk fuel cargo at the Phillips Terminal in Carteret, NJ. Unfortunately, I do not remember the name of the boat. The outer Iron Flange is 18" diameter and the bronze glass ring is 14" diameter. Porthole depth to the top of the dogs is 5" The Portholes were sandblasted to remove many coats of paint. There is no glass this is due to the explosion and fire but the frames are flat and true with no warping. There is slight rust seen on the flange and gasket groove. Examine the photos. The 3 dogs thread easily to open and close the glass ring one dog is slightly bent. These portholes make great nautical ... moretheme Pieces for restaurants. Harbor Sales Compnay Wood Stove
You are bidding on a very old working wood burning Stove. It was made by Harbor Sales Company from best I can tell. It's very decorative and it's what I was looking for. I have restored it a bit from the rusty stove I found in a barn. It still needs a little work but as you can tell from the pics which was taken shortly before posting this add it still works and it's currently in use. You will get the stove and the exhaust pipe coming from the stove. Only the first section as it's made for the stove not the elbow up it is new as you can tell. The wife wants a more modern stove and after a year of complaining I'm giving in. As I said this is an antique from what I and my father can tell. My father is 70 so I'm taking his word for it. This is not a must sell so the reserve is $300 which is not high at all for a wood ... moreburning stove. The buyer is responsible for shipping. I will not make any arrangements to ship this item. I will help the mover move the stove from my house and load it the best I can. This stove is very heavy but most wood stoves are. Anyway good luck and happy bidding. Sold as is.
