Antique Vintage F. Armstrong Pipe Die Handle With 3/4 Inch Pipe Die
Item for bid is a vintage pipe die handle of my Grandfathers made by F. Armstrong in Bridgeport. CT. and 3/4 inch pipe cutting dies that are labeled"REED MFG. CO. ERIE, PA. USA 3/4 R" I believe this handle to be all original, and the two 15 inch long thread-in handles which were un-threaded for the picture taking have nice rounded ends on the opposite ends of the threaded ends which makes me believe that the handles are also original. All the threaded parts move smoothly and the both die halves have clean unbroken cutters.

This set of pipe threading dies belonged to my Grandpa who died in 1969 so I am guessing he bought these in the 40's or 50's but I have no way of knowing for sure. He was a pipe-fitter for a meat packing plant in South St. Paul Mn. for many years prior to retiring in 1965. This set includes what you see: One oil-stained wooden storage box. One empty oil can, one length of pipe, one head for holding the dies, and one each 3/8" 1/2" 3/4" and 1" pipe threading dies stamped'Armstrong Bridgeport' No. 291R, Capewell Mfg. Co. Hartford Conn. ARMSTRONG BRIDGEPORT PIPE NPT TAP AND DIE SET VINTAGE STILL IN COSMOLINE EX. CON
I recently got a pallet of electronic test equipment at a government supply auction and it had a bunch of other hand tools on it I have no use for. Up for sale is a nice vintage Armstrong Bridgeport NPT pipe tap and die set that is mostly unused. Looks like the tools themselves are pretty much all still unused. Wrapped in anti-corrosive paper and covered in what I assume is cosmoline or some type of packing grease(that would be the brownish stuff that is on all the tools) I did see at least one tap and die set that does look like it has been used but overall the condition of the tools is excellent. The box is in great physical condition with no damage, the finish is another story. It does show a lot of shelf wear. The set comes with 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, and 1 inch inside pipe reamers, taps and dies. Has extra large handles for the taps and ... moredies with removable handles for storage. It's a HEAVY set and as pictured before packing weighs 32 pounds so shipping might get a little steep so be sure to check all shipping options to see which is the least expensive for you. The wooden box size is 25 x 10 x 5 inch's.

Vintage F. Armstrong Bridgeport Large Diameter Pipe Threader 3" 1/2" 4" 7" Here is a Vintage F. Armstrong Bridgeport Hand Pipe Threader. I do not have the 4 handles that go into the 2" opening to turn this. I soaked all the bolts with WD40 to break free any rust. Everything seems to be in operating condition. Only no handles. I found this in the back of a warehouse that I purchased. There is light rust on it. I used a wire brush and WD40 to get this looking well enough to read the manufacturer and see the stamp symbols. The thread teeth look fine. I don’t see any dings or dents in them. I see a bolt on each set of teeth that can let the teeth rotate to maybe do a reverse thread or maybe standard or metric I honestly am guessing- I don't know. Here are some measurements: 2" Holes for handles(not included) ... more9" From top to bottom. 15" End to end. 4 1/2" Center Hole. Unpackaged/Unboxed this weighs: 46 lbs. These tools have been wiped down but not cleaned. As a result. There is still plenty of grease/grime on some of them. Most of them could use a good cleaning or a trip through a parts washer to really clean them up nicely. I purchased a small warehouse lot of tools/ mechanic’s tools/ other items from an estate and have been selling them of the past several months. Some of the tools and literature may have dirt/ grease/ fingerprints on them. If that is an issue. Please email and I’ll check them for you.
