Vintage Antique Leather & Split Woven Willow Wicker Fishing Creel Basket VGC
Up for auction is a very nice split willow and leather fishing creel from early 1900's. The only real issue I see with this piece is the leather closure strap is broke. Although it is present and will be included for possible repair. Otherwise the basket is tight with little to no damage. The leather on the rest of the creel looks to be in very good condition as well. Slight discoloration inside on the bottom which just gives it credibility. Good luck.

Welcome! Up for auction is this great woven vintage fishing creel! It is in nice condition. With a few flaws as follows. There are some broken strands along the sides at the bottom. There are a few cracks in the bark that makes up the strap that goes around the basket. They are in the front at the very bottom and there is one chipped spot towards the left side of the photo about midway up. These flaws are visible in the photos if you zoom in on them. Other than those listed, the main part of the basket is in very nice condition, finished with a shiny gloss. The strap makes a twenty inch loop. 75' Gillnet for Bunker, Menhaden with full floats, weights and basket
Hi. This seventy-five foot long gill net was used to catch bunker, or menhaden, for bait. No longer have the boat but an hour with this net in the Long Island Sound with a school of bunker used to catch bait for an entire night of fishing. This is to catch baitfish about a foot long to fish for Bluefish and Striped Bass. Net is in great shape with just one aprox. 8 inch hole from an impatient Blue eating a fish right through the net. Has a bit of a tangled corner as shown in the picture with the basket. Has full float system, large orange floats, one on each end and many smaller floats on the entire line. It does not sag in the middle. The bottom line has weights every foot to keep it nice and tight. Ends are set at 4 feet for easy handling but actually opens as much as 7 feet so you're not just skimming the top. This is set to drop in ... morethe water and catch fish now. I used to drop it near a school and scare them in with the boat, whole process would take about an hour and catch at least 200 fish, yes all night fishing with chum as well. Was hosed down with fresh water after every trip and no rot or flaking of any part here. Basket is about 16" X 20" and weighs about 25 pounds. Pressed Glass Basket
Feat ured in this listing is a larage beautiful pressed glass flower basket. I picked this up at an estate sale awhile back and fell in love with it's beauty. It does have a boo boo- on one side of the glass handle it has been cracked. Although it is still adhered to the glass basket- there is some movement but with those that are good with fixing- some clear glue would take care of the problem. As the way it sits I would not fill the basket and walk it around by it's handle until you have repaired the crack(the crack is on the outside part of the handle so in a sense the one side of the handle is somewhat separated) It measures approx 6 inches tall without the handle and approx 7.5 inches wide lip to lip of the top of the vase. Antique 19th Century Wood Wooden Sewing Spool Desk Thread Stand Basket Box
Up for auction here is a fantastic antique 19th century wooden sewing box. It is dated 1880 on the bottom. It had tambour doors on it. But one of the doors is missing. The other door is missing the knob. The top is a little loose. Other than those issues, it's in very nice condition. These with the tambour doors are extremely hard to find. I don't see any chips or other damage. Normal signs of wear for a piece of this age. Finish is original and very rich. Measures 11 3/8" tall x 8 3/4" wide x 4 3/4" deep. Guaranteed authentic. Vintage HEART SHAPED Sewing Floor Basket Stand RARE! 1930s to 1950s Wonderful wicker sewing basket in the shape of a heart. The stand's top heart has a compartment for all your sewing gear and a lower shelf for accessories. I was told that the lovely basket belonged to a distant aunt and that she had it for quite some time- so we believe it dates to the 1930s to 1950s. It recently was a highlight on a sunporch filled with vintage and antique wicker furniture. The basket is approximately 25" tall. 14" across and 15" to the pointed end; it has spring hinges on the lid. It is in wonderful condition for age and use; although we believe it has always been white- we believe it was painted in recent years(as the hinges are now also painted) The top has always had a slightly lobed/ curved shape to it; however. It now no longer ... moresits flat or completely closes flat(pictured) The aforementioned hinges are no longer tightly springy and there is minor and minimal reed damage where a small bit is missing here and there. Lastly, there is one curlyque on the front leg that is missing the lower curl(please see pictures) None of these detracts or distracts from this unique basket stand! Lovely large antique sewing basket with pedestal base and with beaded lid. This item was purchased 25 years ago from the estate of the owners of an old weaving mill in a small town in Ohio. It is approximately 14 inches high from table to top of handle and 16 inches wide and 6 inches high from table to top of lid. Pedestal is 1 3/4 inches high and 9 inches across. Lid of basket has a large tan bead with smaller off white beads and this is surrounded by an unusual weave. I noted that color appears to have faded from original shade which seems to appear when you open the seat, but not sure if that was another shade originally. This collection was bought from a long time collector of fine Ethnographic Tribal Items. Milton Fowler Gregg, a winner of the Victoria Cross during the First World War. At the time of their marriage, Milton was serving in Guyana as Canada’s first High Commissioner there. They returned to Canada in 1967 and continued to pursue mutual interests. They travelled widely and she continued to add to her fantastic collection that she started in Guyana. These pieces have been in two private collections since they were brought back and are now for the first time being offered for sale. We are not experts in this field and may not be calling the items by there usual names but we do know the history of the collection and can see the quality and age of the items. Vintage Wooden Wishing Well Nut Bowl & Screw Nut Cracker - Nut Basket
This is a vintage 1970s nut cracker modeled to look like a miniature wishing well. The large metal screw on the top is actually for cracking the nuts. While the others are stored inside of the"well" basket. If you don't want to use this nutcracker for it's original purpose, it makes a lovely container for fruit or decorative items and fits in with a shabby-chic rustic country-style home. It has been in our family for over 40 years, but is in excellent vintage condition. There are only a few small nicks in the wood that are at the very bottom and a scratch on the underside of the basket that is only in view when turned over. This piece measures 10" tall and is 7.5" in diameter. Sturdy and well-made from a rich medium-dark textured grain wood and hammered brass nail heads. Very Old Antique FISHING CREEL Style BASKET Wicker w Double Handle
FISHING CREEL Style BASKET Wicker w Double Handle Purchased at an Antique Shop in a Massachusetts coastal town in 1984. This old basket is in tack with two reeds in one of the handles which are broken but not very noticeable. See the two other photos for the location of those breaks. These could be glued. But I would prefer to leave this to the buyer to do. There is inconsistencies with the finish which are characterize to a basket of this age. I am guessing it is at least 50 years old if no t more.
