Antique Toy Batchelor & Stenson Soezy Sewing Machine
Up for auction is the cute and very desirable Soezy Sewing Machine made by the Batchelor and Stenson Co. of New York. The last patent date on this machine is 1902. This machine has been restored. It was stripped of what was left of it's original paint. It was then primed painted and then clearcoated. All of the metal parts have been polished to a high luster. Don't be mislead by the close up pictures of the stitchplate. It makes it look worse than it is. There a couple of blemish's on the stitch plate but nothing major. The needle is missing which is common on this machine. The stand comes with the machine for your display.

Blank back. Domestic brand sewing machine were made in Ohio in the 1860. But in the 1870s the work was outsourced to a manufacturer in New Jersey and only the trade name was kept. Shortly after, these concerns merged and continued operation through the 1800s until the Domestic Company was bought out by White Sewing Machine of Cleveland- but they kept the"Domestic" brand name. This is a lovely card with all the details finely rendered. The sewing machine is very realistic. The boy's expression is lively, and for added emphasis, views of the sewing machine ... moreare reflected very clearly in the shiny bubbles, one at top front and one drifting back. This was a very clever way of showing multiple views of the product in a way that people were sure to note and examine closely. Even the slightly droopy shape of the bubble being formed in the bubble pipe is captured perfectly. CONDITION: Very Good. Slight wear to the corners and upper right corner with a slight crease. Lovely late 1800s Wheeler and Wilson Sewing Machines deep honey colored poplar attachments box. Beautiful Victorian themed embossing on the top. Easy metal push button opens the box to reveal top and bottom lined with the original burgundy red velvet. Box measures 8 3/4” long by 3 1/4” deep and 2 3/4” tall. Hinges in good working order. Box is assembled using 1/4" thick poplar and fingerjoints are used for strength. Box was cleaned and refinished with satin varnish and paste-waxed with 0000 steel wool for a soft lustre. This is a vintage SINGER treadle sewing machine belt shifter. These were used on the cast iron bases to get the leather belt on or off the belt wheel. This one is in very nice condition and includes that all important spring. These original springs are getting harder to find. There are a few chips in the paint. But it will look great on your machine. This one came from a 1899 base. The machine serial# was 8958084 which goes back 123 years. This is an older shifter, but they never changed over all the years the treadle machines were made. This shifter will fit any treadle machine no matter what year. If you are looking to upgrade the shifter with an original early unit. This will be perfect. Give your machine that vintage look. Get Grandma's machine going again.

The fabric lining and the attachment holders have been removed(and no attachments are included) The closure hardware is intact. The dark spots in the interior are not mold; they are mostly residual glue and fabric. And some look like dark spots in the stain. All hinges are in good, working condition. Here are two oak treadle sewing machine drawers in their frame. These old drawers were originally part of a treadle sewing machine cabinet and hung under the top work surface. Now they would be an attractive way to organize all of those little desk items. Utensils, pieces of jewelry, or craft items that gather in your home. They have an ornate pattern pressed into the wood on the front. The drawers with pulls are 13- 1/2" long. The frame is 5- 3/4" wide. And the drawers without the frame are 4- 3/4" wide. The frame is about 9- 3/8" tal l. These drawers are in good condition. With minor wear. The wood has checked(cracked) in a couple of places. 1st photo. Top drawer, 1/4 of the way up and 7th photo, front cross piece on top of frame) Checking is cracking that results from drying. Often(as in this case) it is only cosmetic ... moreand does not affect the strength of the wood. There are water spots inside the drawers. The finish is old and worn. Despite the flaws. This is a real old oil dispenser. My Mother used this can to oil her Singer sewing machine and the old typewriter. It is ove 85 yrs. old. She sewed my sister's diapers on the machine and had the can right in the sewing machine draw. My sister is 89. That is old. It looks like she wrote on the can Typewriter oil.
