ABOUT THE IRIDIUM AND OTHER SATELLITE SYSTEMS This phone uses the Iridium Satellite phone system. It is the only system that will work pole to pole any where in the world on land. Sea or air. Be careful of non-iridium systems- They also do not necessarily work all day and every where in the world as satellites pass over. Sometimes you need satellite time maps to see what time the satellite is where and where to point your phone. None of this is a problem with Iridium. Iridium phones are much simpler and more reliable. They will work anywhere any time as long as there is line of site to the sky. EG you cant be inside.
