ANTIQUE FIREWOOD RACK~TOP GRAIN LEATHER & WALNUT HARDWOOD~VERY RARE FIND~SWEEET!
Going through the many. Many boxes that I inherited, that were stored in an air conditioned storage down here in Florida, I found a very rare find: this very nice firewood/kindling wood fireplace rack that could actually even be used as a magazine rack. This rack is old but is made of very hi-quality materials. The wood frame looks to be made of walnut with just a few edge scuffs and the holder that hangs on the wood frame is made out of beautiful top grain leather that is smooth on the outside and a rough suede on the inside with a lot of stitching and the edges that are wrapped in leather laces. The only fault I found is that when I tried to unsnap the bands that hold the leather onto the rack(I guess I just don't know my own strength) I ripped two of them but there are six more straps with snaps left. This rack measures up to 20" ... moreat its widest, up to 13" at its tallest, and up to 14-1/2" at its deepest. The leather hanging holder(and especially for being possibly an antique) is in remarkably good used antique condition and so is the walnut wood frame. Actually, these firewood racks are getting harder and harder to find, especially an antique rack like this that is quality made. WOW~BUY A TREASURE BUT SAVE A FORTUNE! Check-out my feedbacks. It's from an 8- inch in diameter trunk of a very large apple tree that was cut up the first week in March of this year. It's been stacked in my yard since and is drying out. Yesterday July 4th, I cut it to fit exactly in a Medium Priority Flat Rate Box. With the cut flat side down and the 2- cut offs on either side on top the wood fills the exact space of the box. I cut off the bark side to get the 2 pieces to fit tight. The box measures, 11- 3/4's x 8- 3/4's x 5- 3/4 inches, and is now this week after 4- months in full sunlight{12- 3/4 pounds} This was a live tree when the storm brought it down, and has No rot, ... moreor insects in it, with some of the bark still on it! I also use vegtable oil for my chainsaws cutting chain when cutting all woods used for smoking. This apple wood is from heavy storm damage to a large private property that borders Fairmount park in Plymouth Meeting Pennsylvania.
