When gold was tr ansferred from Assayers offices and other areas Wells Fargo Stagecoach Lines were often used for transport. It measures approximately 13 X 9 X 7. These stagecoa ch st rongboxes while roughly only the size o f a shoe bo x on the inside could hold what was the n. And even more so now. An absolute f ortune in gold. This bo x is very h eavy weighing in at over 40+ pounds empt y. This box has rust on the inside and bottom. Which isn't to detrim ental and too be expected on a box of this age. Pretty Tin Box with Coaches and Carriages This pretty tin box is like a little treasure box. Since the lid bevels up a bit like a treasure chest. The artwork features mostly coaches and carriages, with architectural scenes on each end. Some of the metallic gold details are embossed. The tin is from Klann Quality and was made in Western Germany. The tin does not appear to be too terribly old. And could be somewhat recent. It has some fairly light wear and patina for the most part. There are a few small areas of wear, some light scratches, handling marks, light soiling, some minor dents and dings, etc. A few small scuffs where silver shows. Some red paint has gotten onto interior edges and on inside of lid– looks like a manufacturing issue. Some light patina and scuffing on inside and bottom. With a larger scratch on the bottom. Again.
