This is an older style Black Powder Can. Made of copper so it would not cause a spark underground. It has no lid to it, although it would not be hard to find one due to the top being threaded. This flask is a neat vintage antique piece. It is a rifle sized. Approximately 8" by 3 1/2" copper/Brass black powder flask. There is a scalloped shell design on both sides, all 4 loops present and in excellent condition. The seams are intact, no rust, dents or corrosion, one tiny discolor mark on bottom seam(see photo) Thumb works, cap twists off easily, 4 individual dram measurements. I am putting up for sale an exquisite brass. Copper, and silver powder horn from the middle east, as far s I can tell. It is mostly brass with copper reinforcements and handles. It appears to have some kind of silver medallions attached to the front and it looks like someone in the past had tried to clean it. The patina that was left looks to be quite old. It is 5 1/2"X 2" and tapers up. There is no stopper or lanyard, but is quite interesting by itself. There is no reserve.

The striking embossed decoration is still quite crisp and clear. However, the body has one small ding on the edge. The brass top and collar are well attached. The brass collar is marked with"G. J. W. Authentic Antique (1857-65) Copper/Brass Civil War Era Black Powder Flask
Metal powder flasks were successors of the cattle horn powder containers that accompanied earlier flintlock guns. One finds the Napoleonic Army first using metal powder flasks between 1800 and 1810. Soon after. English firms began to produce them and there is no doubt that the earliest ones used in America were imported from England. In 1830, when various American firms began producing them, American makers did not hesitate to pirate English designs. A notable example is the hanging game design by James Dixon& Son of Sheffield, England, which was faithfully copied by the American Flask& Cap Company. American flask makers include the aforementioned AM Flask& Cap Co, Samuel Colt, Robbins& Lawrence Co, and the Capswell Horseshoe Nail Co who all marked their flasks stamped on top of the charger. Most flasks were made of copper ... morewith a brass top or charger. Metal flasks became standard equipment for both Army and Navy about 1840. These old flasks were made in two pieces. Stamped out and then braised together. Some have two rings and some have four for the carrying cord. I had to clean the brass top(charger) on this one in order to read the makers mark of AM Flask& Cap Co- the American Flask and Cap Company was formed in 1857 and was consolidated with the Waterbury Brass Company on March 20. 1865, so it couldn’t be any easier to accurately date this flask to the Civil War Era. With 4 rings for threading a shoulder cord through- I seriously doubt the tattered cord is original but that’s the way I got it. Now, I wouldn’t know gunpowder from black eye shadow but it appears to have been used as when I stuck my finger in the neck and kind of wiped around, my fingertip came back black. The brass top or charger screws on and off without a problem- the thumb thing snaps open- you have to kind of push it closed. In good condition showing honest age of 150+ years. Having an exposed steel spring lever action and a non-adjustable fixed measured nozzle which throws a powder charge of 28 grains of modern FFFg black powder. Flask has a total carrying capacity of 7.1 ounces of FFFg black powder. Total length from tip of to base of flask body is 8 1/4" with a maximum width of 3 1/2" The Copper Body itself is 6 1/2" long to the top of the mount for the removable top brass piece that has the non-adjustable nozzle and the spring assembly and lever mechanism.This is the flat sided. Plain style popular in pre-Victorian commercial hunting England. This specimen has the rarely encountered wide swivel attachments for leather carrying straps 5/8" wide instead of circular rings for ... morecarrying cords of 1/4" diameter. Three of the original 4 are present- the 4th has a old replacement 3/4" slip ring. The bottom seam split at one time and was solder repaired on the outside- very nicely done(see last photo) and has aged well. The U.S. Military Public Property Powder Flask introduced in the late1820's for use with the Common Rifle for issue to our State Militia units followed this plain flask design and construction and was made by English flask makers.

A very Good Sag Embossed Zinc ZINC Bullets Flask Early 1900's: O f typical. Small size, design, with a two pieces embossed sag's organ mounted with both of its original caps. Nicely toned. In overall very good condition with all original components and tight seams throughout and show aging. The embossed body with a nicely detailed Running/Leaping Sag motif with generally smooth skin surfaces and a nature color toned patina without significant surface oxidation or roughness. Overall length 8.5" It still has zinc bulletins inside of the flask.

This is an Art Deco style mixed metals powder jar made by Henning Wolfhagen. The underside of the lid is marked H. WOLFHAGEN 1083. The base of the jar is marked H. WOLFHAGEN 1083 DANMARK. The jar measures 4.75 inches(12 cm) at the widest point and is 2.25 inches(5.8 cm) deep. It is made of pewter with copper and brass inlays on the top of the lid. The execution of the design on the lid is quite good. Overall condition of the jar is very good with some small dents and one area of pitting on the inside of the jar. Antique Vintage NAKARA Powder Bowl Container Glass Green Flower Design Copper
This piece came from my grandmothers estate. It is a gorgeous powder bowl with a raised paisley/floral design. This still had powder in it. When I cleaned it out I found a small note at the bottom that reads"believed by owner to be Nakara" I am hoping to find a new owner to love this piece as much as my grandmother did! I cannot guarantee this is in fact"Nakara" I am only going by the note found inside. This bowl is in great condition. The top piece has come unglued from the trim and the trim could use some cleaning, as the pictures show, it is very much tarnished. I did not want to clean, as I did not know if it would affect the value. The design is raised and feels course and glittery. The closure is a bit hard to open/close.
