The T.C. Wheaton Company was started in 1888 by Dr. Theodore C. Wheaton. They started by making ampoules. Viles, and chemical bottles. In 1892 they expanded and started to produce perfume bottles, and in 1937 expanded again to accommodate the growing consumer demand. 1946 the Wheaton Glass Company started to delineate the different product lines. The company was sold to Algroup in 1996. The four heavy glass chemical bottles are: Acid Acetic, Ammonium Hydroxide, Barium Chloride, and Alcohol. The bottles have all been cleaned and there is no smell to the inside of the bottle. They are 8 inches tall ... morewith stopper, about 7 inches at the top of the neck and are 3 inches in diameter. The glass stopper is 2 ¼ inches long. The bottles have raised lettering of the Chemical name and compounds on the front. Three of the bottles have strings tied to the glass stopper and the neck of the bottle. On the bottom of the bottle it is stamped Wheaton, No-Sol-Vit, 5 U.S.A. The Alcohol and Barium bottles are stamped with the number 5, the Acid is stamped with the number 4, and the Ammonium is stamped with the number 3. There are no cracks, chips, breaks, or deep scratches. The overall condition of these Antique bottles is excellent for their age and use. This incomplete box of gram weights has a label on the top of the box that reads The C_ Chemical Products Co. Scientific Material. Cincinnati, Ohio, Made in Germany. I cannot make out the word before Chemical but it starts with a C. The wooden box is 7 1/2" long and 3 1/2" wide and it contains six weights. There are indentations in the box for nine weights. The box is lined with faded purple velvet. There is a section in the front of the box that is empty and I do not know what went there. The two closures on the front of the box are intact and working. This kit is just what sparks adventurous experiments with all of the cool looking tubes and ampoules. This kit(for your inner mad scientist) appears to test swimming pool water. We did not see any older kits in our research but current kits from the LaMotte Company as well. The test tubes(3) appear to be original as does everything in the kit. The constant bottle has a rubber stopper on top and has red liquid inside that appears to either have evaporated or have hopefully been experimented with. The 14 ampoules contain various chemicals to test against the water are original or replaced. The glass tips are intact. Really impressive! Oct.1, 1889 as well as an award in 1893(Columbian Exposition? It measures 7 inches square and 3-3/4 inches tall. The nlid is tightly in palce and you need a screwdriver or coin to open it. There is rust spots all over. About 97% of paint is rust free and it looks good for display. Bottom has in pencil"Comes from(illegible name) next me 1909" I can only guess that Ammonia Nitrate was used by pharmacists or in fertilizer. Shipping is $6.15 to $9.79 parcel post in the USA.
