A VERY BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE CHRISTENING GOWN IN MUSLIN WITH FLOWER EMBROIDERY Description. This is an exquisite little hand sewn christening or day dress of antique/early 20th century age and more unusually in fine muslin. I am not good at recognising the different laces but the top yoke of this one is embroidered with tiny flowers and sprigs. Whilst that of the band just below has punchwork and the embroidery is well raised. Similarly the bottom half of the dress has bands of tiny raised bands of flowers/punchwork. The deepest band having punchwork and embroidered small cartouche. The edge of the gown is finished with unusual castellated punchwork. The neck and sleeves are trimmed with lace and the back is also worked to match the front. Fastening is with two tiny buttons and a tie neck. I have carefully laundered the dress and can find no ... morewear other than a small flaw from one of the embroidered leaves on the top yoke. Which looks like a pulled thread but is not loose in any way. Can be seen on photo 5 looking at top right) This gorgeous little dress measures 9" across. Taken from under the armholes, the sleeves are 7.1/2" and the length down from the front neck centre is 35.1/2" A real treasure. Delicate to look at and quite delighful. The tag inside reads: a Catholic Enterprises Original, Liturgical Confirmation Tunic, Design Patent No's 201,539- 202,166" The size reads: Back 45- 46- 47. Measurements are: from neck down to hem(back) 44 1/2" Armpit to armpit 23" double the number for chest size) top of shoulder to end of sleeve 30" Not sure if this was worn or not. But it is in excellent condition. This is a vintage robe which has been in storage for many, many years. It will probably need to be cleaned before wearing.

Vintage 40's Pullman Railroad Lounge-Ease Paisley Dressing Gown Robe Large
Classic piece. Looks like something you'd see ol' John Barrymore himself wearing in the golden days of Hollywood. Has some wear and seam separation in the underarms, also light wear in the collar area, when held to light you can see a few pin holes scattered. But all that being said, the piece is solid. Does have a slight odor, came out of an old cedar chest and you will want to have this cleaned or perhaps hand wash it. I can't decide if it's silk or rayon, definitely one of the two though. What really makes it even more great is the labels, the collar is marked Pullman and has a train on it so I'm wondering if it's not something that was supplied for the passengers to wear. The inner label has a great graphic of a man laying back in his chair smoking a pipe. Pullman label has some wear. We noticed the drawstring in the front of the dress is unhemmed. We also found 2 rice size.
