Vintage J Marttini Signed/Engraved fillet knife made for Rapala. It has the gold decorative cap near tang. Engraved signature, back of sheath is also tooled into the leather made in Finland. Slight dirty spot at top of sheath. Very SHARP fillet knife in great used condition. It is a very nice panfish size. Bluegill, perch etc Blade measures 4" with a total length of 8" I find these shorter knives work much easier on smaller fish. Use it or collect it ~ Great classic knife at a great price! The leather sheath features a metal insert that the end of the blade slides into. The blade is approximately 6-1/8" L. and the entire knife end to end is approximately 10-3/4"L. This auction is for these 2 Stainless Rapala J Marttini fillet knives and sheaths I found at an estate sale. The blades are 6 inches long. They have both been sharpened a lot- one more than the other. The one blade looks like the previous owner put his name on- the name Ralph is on the blade. Garage sale find. Up for auction is a Rapala J. Marttiini Filet Knife. This classic style is a must for everyone who fishes. As you can see from the photos. This knife is used, but it has been well maintained. The wooden handle is in great shape with no chips or cracks. The hollow ground blade is straight. But it does show signs of sharpening. The knife slides easily into the sheath. The sheath is in good shape with no significant staining or water damage. There is a cut in the sheath where the knife was pushed through. After a light cleaning. I applied a light coat of oil to help rejuvenate and protect the handle. I have done my best to show the condition of this item. Nice knife in excellent condition but does have a couple small dark spots on the blade. Blade is otherwise perfect and is near razor sharp. This is my all time favorite fillet knife and these large ones can handle a fairly large fish with no problem. With the knife in the sheath it measures about 11-3/4" total. The knife is pre-owned and has some wear. The wood handle has wear to the finish and the writing. The blade looks like it has been sharpened before but does not feel very sharp now so will most likely need sharpening again before use. The sheath is still in good shape with minor wear. This is a really nice old Rapala. The leather is not rotting or about to and the strap is intact. It looks like it was oiled all the time. The blade itself is very good. It's sharp and tight. This one has the brass retainer at the handle end. The blade has the Marttini signature and is clear with no deep scratches. The two together have been well cared for. This vintage Rapala fish fillet knife is in fair condition. As it has been used. There is a very small crack at the base of the knife handle. But it does not impair use. Just note worthy. There is also a small gouge near the top of the handle. Again. Just note worthy for an accurate description. The blade is engraved. As it should be. The blade also has symmetrical light wear marks. The leather sheath has heavy wear and cracking on the belt loop. As well as on the fishtail at the bottom. The metal triangle Clamp and grommet have rust. The rest of the leather sheath has wear and dirt. Which are signs of typical use and age, not abuse. Please let the photos speak for the condition of this item. Thank you. And happy bidding!

J. MARTTIINI Finland RAPALA Filet Boning Knife Leather Sheathe Vintage Geometric
This is what I believe to be a fish boning knife from Rapala of Finland. It has writing etched into the blade. But it must be in Finnish because I can't make it out. One word looks like"Finnish. Knife and sheathe could use a bit of cleaning. Knife has a 4" wooden handle and the curved blade is 6" long. The knife is fitted into a tooled leather pouch or sheathe with a strap to thread your belt through. Leather has geometric designs and the name MARTTIINI with MADE IN FINLAND beneath it.
