This device is a definite purpose mechanical stage. It consists essentially of a base with a main X-Y translation stage with a range of.050" in each direction. With an auxiliary second stage mounted on it. The second stage features X-Y translation with a range of.500" in each direction and a precision rotary adjustment. Each stage has an aperture, and the centerlines of the apertures are 4" apart. Adjustment of the micrometers varies the relative positions of the centerlines in small, precise increments The main linear stage is 4.5" square with a 1.75" opening in the center. The X and Y motions appear to utilize heavy duty crossed roller slides. The auxiliary stage is 3" diameter and uses ball bearing slides.
