WWII MAUSER 98K BAYONET RARE BYM CODE AUSTRIAN FERLACH MANUFACTURE 1940 DATED
This is one of two bayonets we recently got from the estate of a US WWII veteran of the 240th Field Artillery. Patton's 3rd army. This beautiful blued 98k bayonet is one of the quite scarce BYM coded bayonets for the Austrian firm of Ferlach. This bayonet has 95%+ original bright blue finish and shows very high quality manufacture and has factory edge with no sharpening done to the bayonet. The bayonet is Waa code 757 marked on the top side of the pommel. This maker had a unusual two serial# marking that allows you to figure how many bayonets per run by mulitplying the two digit number by 200 or something like that, as I recall it. The bayonet and scabbard are just as they were brought home and the scabbard has a number ending in 97 and I do not know if this company used the 97 on the bayonet to match or if it is the other number, anyway ... moreit is a RARE bayonet in beautiful original condition with scabbard and 41 dated frog and is sold AS IS, as to the matching or not matching of the scabbard feature. Excellent condition and guaranteed all original Czech VZ 24 Mauser bayonet that is has the BRNO factory“tgf” code on the pommel and a 1950 acceptance date between the grips. This was the last production year of VZ 24 bayonets. Bayonet has the crossed swords proof used under Russian occupation. Bayonet has nice original gray parkerized metal finish with a little bit of brown, blade was never sharpened. Wood grips have original finish and a good tight fit with some normal handling marks, lock button functions fine. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that is also marked with the“tgf” code and a 1950 acceptance date. Scabbard has beautiful original blue metal finish with a few spots of brown and no dents. WWII German DOT Code Bayonet & Scabbard 43 dated
WWII German version of the VZ24 bayonet DOT Code. Bayonet good condition. Scabbard fair condition. This was purpose built without muzzle ring to confrom to the german standard, in effect manufacturing the alterations the German Army had done to stock VZ24 bayonets. Has DOT on the ricasso for the Bruno works, serial 9798 on opposite side, and 43 for year of acceptance on spine. Cutting edge has one minor ding, no nicvks only about 20% finish left. Grips good with usual dings and, pommel mostly bare metal, releae catch works, has Eagle 63 proof on one side. and post WWII Rumanian serial on top of pommel CR 12771. Scabbard is standard VZ34 type with reversed throat and German style set scre in side. frog stud taopered down from top to end in German manner, also bears Eagle 63 proof, Has some minor dents, and dings on front, upper rear has more ... moreof a shallow dented, blade fits loose in scabbard. Very good condition and guaranteed original WWII German 98k Mauser bayonet that has the rare“bym” manufacturer code on the blade for production by Ferlach in Austria and dated 1940 on the spine. Blade retains much of the original blue finish with a few fine pits near the tip and was never sharpened. Remaining metal finish is original blue showing some normal wear. Bakelite grips have a good tight and show some normal handling marks. Lock button functions fine. Fitted in correct original nonmatching numbered steel scabbard that is maker marked JOS. CORTS and dated 1937. Scabbard has original blue finish showing some normal wear and a few dings. A very scarce“bym” marked 98k bayonet that will make a great addition to your collection.

Good condition original WWII German 98k Mauser bayonet that has the rare“i” code on the blade for production by Elite Diamant and dated 1941 on the spine. Blade has original blue metal finish showing some wear. Tip has a ding. Remaining metal finish has a largely brown patina. Bakelite grips have a good tight fit and no damage, lock button functions fine. Fitted in correct original nonmatching numbered steel scabbard that is marked E.u.F. Horster and dated 1938. Scabbard has blue and brown metal finish and no dents. Also complete with correct original leather frog that is soft and supple with tight stitching and rivets and shows some wear. No visible markings. A good example of a very tough to find“i” code 98k bayonet that will make a fine addition to your collection.

Five nails are 2" long, one is 2 1/2" long. Condition is fair to good. The nails are somewhat rusty and darkened.
