NOS COCA COLA PICNIC COOLER BY PROCESS REFRIGERATION BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL Up for auction is an absolutely beautiful 1950's Progress Refrigeration Company Coca Cola picnic cooler. Model No 455. As far as I know Progress coolers ARE NOT reproduced. It is all original with no paint work or chrome work. It is as nice as they come. Has a bottle opener under one side handle. It is NOS but NOS is not a measure of condition. It only indicates it was never used for its intended purpose. I conservitively rate this cooler a 9.6 and I AM being conservative. When I found this cooler the man who had it told me he had displayed it in his basement and he had personally removed it from the original box. Unfortunately he didnt keep the box! If only he had. The only flaws are some very minor bb sized or smaller box wear chips on a couple of corners and one ... moreon top of the lid corner see pic. Other than that it is mint as it came from the maker. Feet on the bottom are super cond. As true Coke collectors know the original paint jobs were well done but they were not perfect. They were in the business of production not perfection. The Body shop repaints many people admire are far better than the originals. These coolers never looked like that in real life.This is the REAL THING. Make no mistake the coolers were very nice and the red and white on this one is not faded and is in beautiful factory original condition. It is 19.25 long x 13.25 wide and 16.25 high. Holds 32 bottles. Made of steel and spotwelded together. It is very heavy empty. The inside is mint silvery galvanized with sandwich tray the same. THIS COOLER HAS NEVER HAS HAD WATER OR ICE IN IT. The drain is chrome steel with cap and chain. This cooler was modeled after the look of the larger store coolers with the square shape and simulated cooling louvres at the bottom. Carry handle locks the top down and releases it when positioned to the other side of the cooler. The lid is NOT hinged so be VERY careful when you open it so you dont drop it. Which is a custom model that Taylor made for Carvel. I have two of these heat e xchang ers available. Price is for one. These should work for a variety of water cooled machines.
