Carbide Internal Measuring Jaws Dial Bore Gage Block Set-Up
Hard to even find these on the Internet. For use on the ends of square gage blocks to set a dial bore gage to. They measure 2.250" long. 1" wide and.500 thick. I used to have the capability to set up to 22" long gage blocks with these on the end with connecting rods I made. The 1" square gage blocks actually measured.950" X.950" My plan was to grind.025" off of each side to make them also.950" wide so I could stack up my gage blocks laying on their side to slide the connecting rod through the center(still a good plan) I'm a little embarrassed to say I threw them up on a surface grinder and started to grind on them. I didn't realize they were carbide. I thought they were steel. The one surface on each that I ground on, I took off a maximum of.004" on one and even less on the other before ... moreI realized they were carbide. I had no way to grind carbide. The polished precision surfaces on each side of the.500" dimension were not effected at all by what I did. Still just as usable as they were for setting up gage blocks. The last photo shows the surface that was partially ground on. The picture with the gage blocks is just an example. No gage blocks are included.
