The Challenger 2 420 BH tenor trombone by Antoine Courtois. Made in Paris. France. This large bore tenor trombone features an f-attachment with the very smooth Hagmann valve system. The trombone is free of dents and only contains minimal surface wear from normal use. The Hagmann cover and slide grip area are mildly worn from constant use. All slides and valve are free and smooth. Hand slide is unbelievably slick and smooth for a 9 year old horn. Yellow brass with silver highlights. This trombone can play well with any stake group. I have used it since college in concert and jazz groups as well as my current brass quintet. Simms-Watts Mk.I AP100 valve amp head. Dating from around 1970. Renowned for their full sound and power Simms-Watts amps have been used in recent years by bands such as the Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand. Bowie and Ronson also used these back in the'70s. Breakup is possible but at ear-splitting levels so these are particularly well suited for use as a clean platform with pedal boards or as a bass amp. This particular model has two channels, normal and brilliant, each with volume, treble and bass controls with a master volume. The difference between the Mk.I and Mk.II is that the latter had a master presence control added and some improvements in the quality of the wiring. This amp has been restored to its original condition having suffered some serious neglect over the years and some very dodgy repairs. I could show you some horrifying ... morepics of these"repairs" and you'd wonder how no-one was killed by them! A new Groove Tubes power transformer of similar(or better) spec than the original has been installed to replace the miniscule article that some dimwit put in as a replacement. The all important output transformer is the original ultra-linear type. The main board is turret-to-turret with Mullard mustard caps intact. The bias board has been rebuilt. The wiring tidied up to not-quite-Harry-Joyce standard(but better than the spaghetti it had previously) new smoothing caps installed along with a quartet of JJ EL34s and some Marshall preamp valves and the whole thing has recently been serviced. The cabinet has been restored and mostly recovered in the same style of rexine as originally used(The basketweave covering was used on later models. NOT the Mk.I) while retaining the original piping, handle and vent grille. The silver plexi control panel shows some distress from years of use with a small section missing from one end and the remains of a previous owners letraset name(Toad, if you're interested! There is no S-W name-plate at present but I am hoping to have a repro plexi panel in the near

This valve was used for one heating season controlling the flow of hot water through the radiators in my home. I designed it out of the system. The valve works fine. It was used with pex tubing and I left the pex fittings in place in case the buyer needs them. Valve is normally closed. Opens when 24vac is applied.
