Vintage Grinnell Fire Sprinkler Matching Pair Cast Iron Deluge Valve Covers
This auction is for a vintage(old) pair of matching cast iron Grinnell fire sprinkler valve assembly covers. There are warning and ID plates and inspection tags on each of the covers. Showing operational, maintenance and other data. I am not familiar with some of the intricacies of this hardware, but it's pretty serious looking stuff. The covers have white stencil marking for their systems- Center System and East System New Addition- along with their operational name plates showing patent dates and other technical info. There is an inspection or installation sticker on each that has a date of 1987. Thirty five years young or thereabouts. They don't look a day over a hundred. Aside from their collectors value. These covers would make an interesting set of doors for a cabinet or chest, as decorative wall hangers or the perfect gift ... moreto a collector of fire hardware. The original red paint is still in fairly good shape. A little creativity goes a long way with these covers- they can be re-purposed into a lot of interesting uses. When this one was made someone J 503 and 3/12 on the back which shows through the porcelain. I am going to assume that the 3/12 is March of 1912. This one is in good condition. Just a bit of chipping on the corners and near some of the other mounting holes. It measures 9 inches tall, and 13 inches long. Check the photos carefully for close ups and details. This is a huge used Hunter LT600 golf course sprinkler. I bought these form a course that was having an entire new system installed. It was working when removed. It has an electric solenoid built into the sprinkler itself, it can be controlled individually, uses any standard sprinkler timer. The top of the sprinkler has a manual lever to set the sprinkler to off, automatic(solenoid) or manual on. This is handy as you can turn it on at the sprinkler to work on it or turn if off too. This will spray a couple hundred feet diameter, I used them in our pasture and they were great. The inlet is 1.5" If I recall correctly) so you need a big connection to run several of these at once. We run a couple at a time with just our 1" line coming in and they work ok.
