This pocket volt meter was made by the Sterling Manufacturing Company Cleveland OH. It has Patented Oct. 3 1916 printed on the face. It also has stamped into the back cover"Patented Oct. 3 1916 Made In U.S.A. We have tested it using a battery and it is working. It looks quite nice for its age showing minor ware. The chrome is bright with lite scratches and scuffs. The back cover has some minor corrosion which shows in the picture. The cloth cord is not frayed and shows nicely. Up for bidding is a vintage Weston model 663 analog Volt Ohm meter. Commonly referred to as a VOM. It is a nicely designed unit, and features 1 and 5 KVolt AC and DC scales. I briefly tested this item and found that it worked on the DC Volts. AC Volts and lower resistance scales(except the 10K Ohms scale) The resistance measurement function uses a 1.5 Volt"D" cell for the lower scales and a 15 Volt cell for the 10K Ohms scale, neither of which are supplied. I did not have a 15 Volt cell for testing, thus I am not sure whether the 10K Ohms scale works. I was not able to get this item to work on the DC current scale. It also appears to have a 0.25 DC Volts scale, which I did not test. The meter movement seems to be in good working order. The negative spring contact of for the 1.5 Volt battery is missing. This item also requires test ... moreleads. Which are not supplied. The front panel could use a little cleaning, which should be possible as the lettering appears to be printed on the back side of the clear plastic panel. vintage PIFCO BAKELITE"pocket watch" VOLT. MA, test METER radio, wireless, box The PIFCO"All-In-One" The face(including the bezel) is 62mm in diameter. With its original box(VERY rough) and some modern leads which fit the holes. The body is a nice reddish-brown mottled bakelite, which is intact! Please see photos for the back plate with instructions; some of the text has worn off but enough is left to work out the connection. I have tried this against my digital multimeter and I get these readings: 8V DC scale: DMM 6.08 Pifco 6.8. DMM 3.14 Pifco 3.6 240V DC scale: DMM 210V. Pifco 120V(needs work on this! 40 mA scale: DMM 15mA. Pifco 18mA It also has a"Valve and circuit test" This is across the back 2 contacts(I have a'C' cell in the back which seems to fit, it may not be the right voltage for the meter) ... moreshorting these contacts(or connecting them across a low resistance) gives a small reading on the scale, as there are no numbers on this scale I can't tell what it's supposed to read. The box lid is falling apart. Held together by tape, but is complete. The box base is completely in pieces. The brass bezel plating is worn/flaking a bit; the meter body is very nice and undamaged.
